It would be a fairer test if you shot the s5 in Vlog, have you shot in Vlog yet? I would be curious to see how the noise and dynamic range hold up against the Pocket 6k. Appreciate you sharing the test it's very helpful, I'm trying to decide between the S5, Pocket 6k and the Sigma fp, the Sigma is looking quite good in low light too.

Hi thanks for the comment! I wanted to show how good the low-light performed even in standard filming modes. I will be releasing a video going more in-depth in to the S5 and how it's advanced cinema settings function. My initial feelings are that vlog is significantly approved over the Gh5 vlog which I couldn't use because it rendered skin tones unusable. Just how good it is I haven't gone into enough detail yet. The dynamic range though is one of the first things I noticed with the S5. It's ridiculously good. Like seeing into shadows good. I've never used a DSLR with better performing dynamic range (of course high-end cinema cameras will beat it). That's tough decision between those 3 cameras. What are you going to be filming most? Answering that question may help you make your decision.

its well known shooting vlog in low light will give you significantly more noise than a more contrasty profile like cine d, it's not worth it

Hi, just a comment - I can see black artefacts distinctly moving on the lens rim on the S5 at 2500 ISO (8bit and 10bit) where as the C200 and BMCC keep that nice and clean through all ISO range. Isn't that also the kind of black compression artefacts we don't want to see? The cinema cameras have a more stable and calm image to my eye.

that's youtube compression, because there are minimal noise moving there the youtube compression have a harder time keeping the gradient clean, hence the blocking since the compression codec decided to not dedicate enough. data to that part of the image.

Did you shoo this in Vlog for the s5? I couldn't see where it said what profile you were shooting in....It looks great tho. thanks for the awesome video!

Sure it is not V-log, cause minimum ISO for VLOG is 640

Impressive how to blacks stay black. But I'm even more interested in how they compare on dynamic range and skintones, especially in log. What are your thoughts on that?

Wonderful video! Video content, but with conclusions and dialogue at the end! I'd love to see a video of how the S5 stacks up against the A7c or A7iii

Hi, I have shot the BMPCC 6K alongside the C200 in very low light and the 6K was only able to manage around 4000 ISO whereas the C200 could go to 12800.

He's correct. Pocket 6K should not be used over 4000, and even then - there are real compromises being made.

Hey thanks for the comment! As Panasonic is a Japanese company and the Japanese have legendary quality control I feel very confident that they wouldn't put they're brand on anything that is poorly built. My other Panasonic products have lasted for years and taken a LOT of abuse over the years that the rigors of the film industry throw at them. So I'm not concerned about it, but to each their own!
