When I think of Street Fighter, I think of the original Street Fighter in 1987 and Street Fighter 2 from 1991. In 1987, I was 12 years old and played the original across the street from my grade school. In 1991, I was 16 and played it everyday. Went to prison in 1994 at the age of 19. Released from prison in January 2020. I’m 45 now so I never got to experience Street Fighter 3, Alpha, and 4. I’m amazed at the graphics and gameplay of SF5. I gotta practice cause I’m so rusty.

@@ardaagaik9136 if you have a pc you can download fightcade. After you download it look for a guide on how to install 3s on fightcade. Theres a decently sized community playing 3s all the time. I think it's usually around a couple hundred active people and it uses ggpo so the connections are pretty nice.

That sprite work is still gorgeous and on par with anything today. I played a lot of Alpha 3 back in the day and thought that was tops, but the mechanics here are more interesting for crazy one on one. I don’t think it came to America. It can contend with Tekken 3 but the wind was blowing 3D.

Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike is my favorite Street Fighter game to play on Street Fighter: 30th Anniversary Collection. I like it a lot better than the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of 3rd Strike because in the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game you cannot turn off the input lag. In Street Fighter: 30th Anniversary Collection, you can turn off the input lag.

Started my fgc journey in Super Smash Brawl in 2013. Since then I have learned to play so many different fighting games with my first , " real fighting game " being SFIV. Now here I am in 2021 learning everything about 3rd strike so I can dominate. 3rd day in I took a games off of a 1500hr player. I'm in love with this game now. Ibuki main. :)

I've done incredible things in gaming. Beaten every Gears of War on Insane, gotten Knightfall protocol, 100% in Rise of the Tomb Raider. But... Coming home high as a kite, (as a teenager) and and parrying all of Gills moves and never giving him the chance to resurrection. "Chefs kiss" As Dudley is by far, my greatest, gaming memory.

SF3 was incredible. I got hooked on it because there was an arcade near me, and I had already beaten the crap out of all the other games and was a huge SF fan. Initially... I was a bit underwhelmed and the characters didn't "feel" like SF characters. I started with 2nd impact. Then.. I just got pretty good at it and started to run into other players at the arcade who were insanely good. I broke down how they played, got better. Started using parry. Then 3rd Strike came out and was having way too much fun. The characters were definitely unique. I started to get good enough to see the secret ending regularly and it became my favorite. I really appreciated the mind games and strategy involved. I like to say once you get past the learning curve, Street Fighter is a fast paced game of chess because of the way its balanced

I think the thing about sf’s 6 buttons is that theyre all more specialized. Typically an anti-air button is *only* an anti-air, or a poke is *only* a poke. Once you find the ranges your buttons work best at, you dont need to worry too much about application because its typically straightforward what each does well

J Wong how is 3s not a street fighter game? Please explain because I’m confused by that statement especially since SF4 and 5 bit the balls heavily. that argument makes no sense, SF evolved much further than "hadoken shoryuken", granted 3S is definitely very different than II, IV or V, but it still feels like all SF has always has been, franchises are allowed to change, stray off from the usual and try new things.

Third strike is my favourite by far. Street fighter 2 is a masterpiece, but 3rd strike is just so fluid and looks gorgeous. It is the perfect sequel to sf2. And it's just one of the best sprite based fighter ever. It's on the same level as kof 13 and yet it came out 10 years earlier

I don't play third strike, but I RESPECT it. Mechanically there were a lot of changes that really made it stand out for the time (dashing, more moves, what they did with the super bar, multiple different supers, the ability to parry). I also have to say the sprite work and animations were REALLY nice. Top notch. The things I don't like about it mostly come down to personal choice, but I think some of it at least is objective. First, I agree with Wong here in that it doesn't "feel" like a SF game. This isn't just about the mechanical changes. There are some of the new fighters that I really do like, but there are a lot of the designs I do not (Hugo, Q, Necro, Oro, Remy, Twelve, Urien, and Gill). I also feel like the design elements of new characters has been on the decline from this point forward... look at how iconic some of the original SF characters were and how simple and balanced the designs were. Nothing personal but I can't say the same going past SF2. Many of them do not "feel" like the designs fit in with the first batch of SF characters (and some that replaced others were simply worse designs like Remy in particular). We also do have a number of very similar designs for more characters... SF2 had three that were similar (Ryu, Ken, Akuma), but this game adds yet another in Sean and Makoto is not that far off in being distinct. Then we have Yang and Yun who are very similar, and Gill is an abomination of design that is just a multicolored Urien with long hair. Twelve especially just seems lazy and unimaginative. Although this is somewhat subjective I think we can say objectively that many are worse designs than what came before. Next is the music. Don't get me wrong, there are a few good tracks that stand the test of time. Most of it was, again, about a "feel" that was very different from SF2. They do well to mesh all of the different elements together, but I really like how the original soundtrack was very much influenced by the different cultures in the places you fight in. There are some notable exceptions, like how Akuma's stage's music blends in beautifully those traditional elements with the new style, but much of the time what is going on in the music isn't aligning with the stage. Then there is also the fact that the SF2 music was almost ALL bangers; the simple and catchy melodies are fucking iconic. There is STILL nothing that matches some of the original music, and you know your ass is still humming Guile's theme song in the shower all these years later. Those old tracks are timeless, and it is only a handful from third strike that can say the same, and everything beyond it has never reached that level in my opinion. I also think some of it is the arrangements/mixing and the limitations of what could be done at the time... many of the tracks would sound MUCH better if redone (I can't stand the fake saxophone sounds for instance). Next, we have stages... and don't get me wrong, there are some really nice ones. But comparing them to how iconic some of the SF2 stages were, again, there are only a handful that are on the same level. I just feel like there was something magical about the SF2 versions that was lost going forward. Oh, and I also don't care for the announcer as much as the very first one (so even super turbo's I don't care for as much). So I await your hate and vitriol. Feel the anger rising inside you and lend me your salt; for it sustains me.

The ultimate trigger is when you KO Gill and he resurrects and then KOs you without you hitting him again and it says “Perfect” 😩… Best thing to do is have Hugo’s second Special ready to go. As soon as Gill rises you do the S2 and punish him from the air

@@Ayyem93 the lag man, the netcode is ass. Coupled with the horrible ranking system. A black belt(highest rank) can literally fight white belts(lowest rank) anytime. And since it's dead most of the time you will rarely find anyone of the same skill level, so good luck dreaming of a fair fight(that is, if you are good - then you needn't worry)
