No wonder how they have finished the game so early. The researcher cannot take a card from other players if the city they are staying does not match with it. Otherwise, the researcher would be extreamly OP as we've seen in the video.

Hi, nice gameplay. I just recently started playing the game, and learning to get all the rules straight. So I dont want do be a total douche. But only the epidemiologist may take any city card from another player. The researcher may do the complete opposite, giving any city card. As a beginner, me and my friends made the same mistake an entire evening. Anyway, I wish you all a Merry Christmas.

Just picked this game up and we are loving it. The first round we won easily and I was kinda discouraged because I thought it would be harder, then we lost the second two rounds which was awesome!

46:11 Funny how Becca does a rules clarification here, but it’s wrong. As other people have pointed out, the Researcher can only GIVE a player any card in any city. The Researcher still has to be in the matching city to TAKE a card from a player (in that same city).

@Alex Maddox You have to actually read the card. Researcher can give a card or other players can take a card from researcher without the normal "matching city" restriction. The researcher specialty ONLY affects cards moving from researcher to another player, it's just described in two different ways because the ability works no matter whose turn it is. Sharing cards TO the researcher follows the normal restrictions.

I'm doing a java project that uses multi- agent solution to ottomate the players strategy. I didn't know the game before my assignment so i had to familiarize myself with the rules. This video (and the one before that , that contains the rules ) really helped me to understand how the game works!!! Great video! :-)

Is there a role which allows you to set up research stations easier? I seem to recall a highly successful run with someone (whom I seem to recall was myself) running around setting up research stations as a portal network of sorts. Which made the Medic and Dispatcher's jobs much easier.

@@raypluswatpent6823 I usually play as the USA. So my strategy is generally, because early on in the game the USSR has the advantage, and the USA has one in the later game, is to play defensive. Keep your territories, advance the space race, keep the best cards, and if need be, you can sometimes be on the attack, but primarily, defend, and keep yourself in a good position, so when the late war comes, you can completely overload the USSR and win by a large margin. If you’re the USSR, it’s the opposite. Rush everything, try to be as attacking as possible, with the hope that you can get enough VPs, so that even if you fail to win early on, you have enough so that by the end you’re still ahead.

@@anonymousshitposter1743 I play as the USSR a lot and my general strategy is to rush as well. I think that Africa and Southeast Asia are really hard for the Russians so I like to go South America and not dominate the space race but keep pace with the USA. The Middle East is also easy to get tokens in. I don’t know about you but on the deaf on track I find that it gives the advantage to the Russians the lower it is. Obviously you don’t want to get it to 1 but three or 4 is good.

I also find it very culturally ironic that the majority of the epidemic outbreaks came from the quarentine expert. It is almost like she is fighting and educating on something she knows little about or trying to deal with a sickness is unknown and she is trying to educate but no one is listening

just a little mistake, on the first turn you infected miami, but it's connected to atlanta and your quarantine specialist would have prevented that. and are you supposed to reshuffle the epidemics and put them back on top of the deck? i thought you were supposed to remove them. because if you drew epidemic on the first turn, you would keep drawing epidemic every turn for the rest of the game. and then after the first epidemic card, you forgot to infect 2 cities afterwards and went right to the next player's turn

Well they're playing on easy mode with only 3 epidemics. 5 or 6 epidemics is really difficult.

So I love this game and my friends figured out a strategy to break it. It was a great time. The strategy is VERY similar to this one except instead of Researcher, we used a Dispatcher However, the problem with playing a game with so much popularity as this one is that if you do not announce any house rules prior to playing, there is going to be a lot of Rule Nazis in the comments. It is kind of annoying, just enjoy the game.

True but changing or ignoring some rules makes the game a lot easier which may be ok the first time or two learning especially if your making an honest mistake but can also make the game a lot easier/less challenging and can lead to people getting bored with the game. One thing to agree with friends at your home but a lot of people like myself come here to get a better grip on the game so I actually welcome the comments cause I realized with my friends we were playing it incorrectly and I am glad for the corrections. Don’t feel like anyone was being disrespectful. If I was watch a poker video and someone won a hand with a straight while the other player lost even though they had a full house I’d hope someone would point that out.

It's my fault, I jinxed you. I mentioned in the How To Play video that I'd played the Researcher wrong for years, and then y'all go and make the same mistake. The Researcher's power only works when the card is going from the Researcher to another player - it does not work when the card is going from another player to the Researcher. Otherwise, the ability would be somewhat overpowered on turn 1. All these scenarios happen at the beginning of the game, with everyone in Atlanta. 1> The Operation Specialist (OpSpec) starts with the Atlanta card. For one action, he can give it to any player or another player can take it from him. 2? The Researcher begins with the Osaka card. For one action, she can give it to any player or any player can take it from her. 3>The OpsSpec starts with the Osaka card. As much as he might like to pass it to the Researcher before he leaves Atlanta - say, so he can spend his 2nd card to travel to a city and build a research center using his own power, the better for other players to then move to the new center - that's not how the Researcher's power works. RE" "randomly" getting the four best roles. As another poster said, there's debate there. Leaving the Dispatcher out? Not much debate about that, though. The ability to move players into the same city for 1 action is a tremendous asset, and the Medic\Dispatcher combo makes eradication more feasible. PERSONALLY I'd say Dispatcher, Researcher, Medic, and OpSpec with Quarantine juuuuust barely in 5th instead of 4th but, yeah, debate exists on this topic.

They're a lot of mistakes made so not a really relatable source on learning the rules.

Melody S. The Geneva conventions do not apply to civilians in non wartime settings so...no. As for the Red Cross emblem not being public domain while that is correct it is up to the Red Cross organization to actually sue before the board game would have to remove it. It’s a lawsuit most people involved would find frivolous however so it’s not likely to be addressed.
