“Developing” is a euphemism. These countries aren’t developing, most of them are only a few decades younger than the United States. A developing country is a country that’s being built and settled right now, not a country that’s been established for over a hundred years. And the United States was far more developed than these countries at the same time in their respective histories. Second, the United States is better than any European country in multiple metrics: wealth, economy, military, biodiversity, land mass, resources, technological advancements, medical advancements, world influence, cultural influence, etc. There is a reason people come from all over the world to come live here and we don’t have a mass exodus of Americans leaving. We have a country that is better in multiple ways than any other country on the planet. All you can do is cherry pick a couple of metrics than we may not be the absolute best in. And to do so would be forgetting that the only reason our allies can focus their resources on those metrics is because we guarantee their security with our military and influence.

SOS says at 25 he was broke living on his buddy’s couch. What he doesn’t tell you is he was able to land a scholarship to one of Miami's top private high schools, and that he’d earned a BS degree Communication and Business from Florida State University. So he wasn’t just some failed broke comic w/ nothing else to offer. He’d been provided a wonderful education (that he took advantage of) and most likely provided useful connections during his career. It’s not ONLY about busting your ass. It’s about opportunities.

I actually agree with your overall point, that background certainly helped him succeed. But...that field, cold calling for a financial firm, isn't a college degree gatekeeper situation, which makes his personal example massively less annoying. True you eventually need to take a certification exam to progress, but that's a sign up, study and take it affair. The other most common blue collar hero opportunity like this is car sales. There's no degree or skill training needed initially, and you can transition from either into the very lucrative higher levels of each industry if you succeed. Success in either can bring you to 6 figures relatively quickly most importantly.

@giorgisabashvili2664
@giorgisabashvili2664 Жыл бұрын
but 1% will be, therefore you can. being rich is inherently exclusive. how can you put 99% in the 1%? that's insane logic and it's going in circles. america is the wealthiest nation and it got there by exploiting the immigrants who come there or are trafficked(no labor laws apply to immigrants who come illegally which is both blessing and a curse, literal slave is a better competitor than the protected laborer as a worker) and then immigrants exploit the tax dollars + subsidies and the system of state capitalism perpetuates and grows. people come to america because america is both rich and gives out subsidies, same as europe. it's the reason people would rather live in switzerland than france, or germany or sweden. proximity does make a big factor but people gravitate towards wealth and wealth is created by exploitation. it's a perverse dance really, "cant love others if you cant love yourself first" mentality turned into a political argument

Sadly that sentiment is the common one among Americans. The Red Scare legitimately mindbroke them, they can't imagine the state helping citizens without it being a communist totalitarian fascist regime in return. Super fun fact in relation to this: In 2021, the U.S. spent 17.8 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) on health care, nearly twice as much as the average OECD country. Health spending per person in the U.S. was nearly two times higher than in the closest country, Germany, and four times higher than in South Korea. I think one of the biggest problems with the current political divide, is that enough light and talk is being shined on that problem. If we had more opportunities for everyone, than that would solve the problems with inequality of minorities, as it would allow them a better chance than locking in a limited number of them in say college courses or jobs. If you allow for the free and open development of opportunities for everyone, than that would be much more effective just based solely on statistics

Also having way more white people, like majority 90% white. Destiny, democrats and leftist tend to always overlook this fact. and instead focus on results. Homogenous population western and west like countries tend to be able to accomplish things more when it comes to social care. And if you look at US history where we were able to accomplish the most, it was in the past when it had overwhelming white population. It is what it is. The US won’t be able to accomplish what the European countries are capable of, not anymore because our demographic is soo “diverse” it is now no longer functional holistically as one body.

Only time US was exceptional was when it had white overwhelming majority and where it had the highest concentration of European immigrants. Which were all in the past. Hence….. the uncomfortable fact is that homogenous population vs diverse population. A lot easier to accomplish social care when the person looks like you, your father, mother sister brother etc. homogenous demographics is the ultimate answer to these types of question. We always use European countries as the example but we never use the parameter that European countries are under. We only look at the results while having blinders on. How they are able to accomplish something like that. And no, European population is no where near diverse as the US.

It's a stupid question for multiple reasons. 1) What has ANY country done in the last decade or so to be proud of? What are the metrics of a good accomplishment? Does it have to be done by the government or the people? I can list American accomplishments I find to be exceptional: - Space X's rocket technology advancements - Computer technology advancements (Quantum Computing, Consumer tech, etc) - Car technology advancements (self driving cars, touchscreens, etc) - First Black (Half Black technically) President, First Female, Half Black, Half - Asian Vice President - Smartphones: All current smartphones were heavily influenced or directly made by Apple, an American company -Medical advancements (MRNA, stem cells made from skin cells, the first successful nerve-transfer surgery) There are far more, obviously, but I don't have all day to research them. 2) Even if their wasn't any in the last decade or so, who cares? That doesn't erase the nearly 300 years of the country's history nor all the freedoms and conveniences that you benefit from everyday but take for granted. 3) A better question is what have YOU done that's exceptional and worthy of love. You have this ass backwards idea that the world or this country in particular needs to impress YOU. It's the other way around. You are the one that needs to prove yourself and add something valuable to society. The country has already done that.

@@FatherManusi’m a bit of a cynic so I’d write off some numbers on that list, including Apple and their smartphones. These corporations have largely detached from the country’s identity, the US is good for their taxes, they start there, but there’s not an allegiance or similarity as far as I’m aware I think it’s valid to ask what the US has done recently. What America IS, is what it is now and recent. Its history helps with identity, but you can’t convince new generations who’ve never seen that identity appear. The last point is true in part. As a member of this nation, contribution is necessary, and it is fulfilled in how you engage with its market, work, and politics. It’s a sell on both sides. “Here’s why you should be a proud American, thus, go out, work, contribute!” You can say fuckit to those who want something particular from the US, but that does reinforce our population of homeless and drug addicts. Low motivation, nihilistic dependents who can’t see how they should be proud, busting their ass for 70 hours a week while on withdrawal to live in a poor-kept single bed with 5 other people. The US does helpful things for people in this bracket, i.e. food stamps, welfare, loans… but that last part. The least educated in our population must try and take out loans to have a shot at breaking out of that low place. Education. And yet, banks are capable of using that dependency to bury them further without a safeguard from the US. I won’t say this mistake isn’t born of ignorance of money, but once the mistake is made, those guys are forsaken. They’re now “lowlifes” who shoulda never tried drugs, who should just go back and fix their family situation, who shoulda known better with that loan, who shoulda done better in school despite working overtime. They’re shrugged off as simple failures. But hey, that’s your choice. So maybe America CAN do things for its people, especially its new generation, which can’t pinpoint what we’re all about to begin with.

As someone that lives in a large American city, NEVER go to a restaurant that has a huge line. For the entirety of the time I've lived here, it's as average as any other restaurant in the area but it's gained an underserved reputation. That reputation could have started from a good location, decent food in an area that didn't have much previously, a huge investment in the decor so it feels like a "destination spot." The comparison almost works against him; just because something is super hyped up in popular culture doesn't mean it's better than other options.

If you solve a problem for others, you are given riches beyond your wildest dreams. It is the greatest possible incentive system for innovation. You know what mediocre losers care about? - Buildings with 'character' - Vacation days - The commute It's a joke. I think the inherent belief of "pick urself up by ur straps' completely derails the conversation. If the host guy can't even for one conversation, think about the points Destiny made then this conversation will always go nowhere. You have to acknowledges his points. Yes people get more from their taxes in those European countries than we do here in the USA. Assuming you don't live in Chicago or the northeast, there is no amazing transit system that can take you from one place to another. It's still insane to me that Texas has not been able to figure that out, they'd probably keep more people as a result. The debt the health care system leaves people in is a glaring factor that was just ignored by the host in favor of his dumb argument "victim mentality'. I know people who had to stop their own lives to pay med bills of their moms, complete de-railing their own lives to take care of someone else. That's a pretty big deal. There seems to be no agency, federal or otherwise, tasked with getting people off the streets. Police don't have that in their job description so leaving it to them is stupid. So if the host engaged with these points I'd be more willing to hear him out. However he presented nothing but 'victim mentality' and 2 of the 3 women as evidence to his point. And the last woman who said 'my fam is still in israel' I'd grill her on why are they still there? Cause them being there doesn't help the hosts point. And the last point, Cubans were given amnesty and encouraged to come to America by Reagan. So the idea that they did it by themselves is false. It helps when you have a government worth billions of dollars boating millions of cubans to another country.

Destiny's argument is a bit weak here. Obviously not everyone can be the 1 %. But class mobility is way more fluid here in the states than most other countries. Also, there are more avenues than ever before to become wealthy and more people do it than you might realize. This biggest thing is staying at a high level. The core of the freedom mentality is that you have the possibility to reach whatever you want to. On the flip side of that there are no guide rails and you could end up with nothing. It isn't a lifestyle choice that suits everyone but it has merit. Trying to distill it down to just the 1% is disingenuous. Most people aren't aiming to be the 1% even if they are looking to be wealthy.

Imo Destiny point was you want stats from the middle class or average American if they are proud to be an American and the point people from the middle east wanting to come to America could be there's nothing left of their homes due to the war on terror basically forcing them to move. People in most free countries have the opportunity to be what they want to be especially in Europe where there are many countries with free education giving people the knowledge to purse their dreams. American dream is to be able to live start a family and enjoy your life with every costing more and the median wage not being able to support your lifestyle will end up the decline of Americas population and power in the world. America sold it's soul to big corporations which is the true government of America.

The American dream isn't just have a family and live in a nice house with a white picket fence. Im sure that's what some people desire but thats not the american dream. The american dream refers more to the choice and freedom. For what it's worth the american dream died after the expansion west and the country was fully settled. That's part of the compromise of having a society though. So it is what it is. America's slump or "downfall" isn't caused by corporations or wall street or anything like that. The argument Destiny should have made is "yes and you went into finance. You went into an industry that caters to the ultra-wealthy, which is what i said in the first place. If youre ultra-wealthy in the USA, you have it great. But what if someone was just as a hard worker as you, just as motivated to better themselves and passionate about what they do, but instead of being into finance theyre into painting. And they want to put their passion and hard work and blood sweat and tears into painting. Doesnt that person, if they work a full time job and pay their taxes in the US deserve to be able to pursue their dreams and not have to worry about paying for basic necessitates like groceries, rent and a car. This is why its not just "lazy and wanting a handout from the gov't" its about letting people live their lives and do what they want and be FREE without being crushed by the costs of everything.

I lived in a 3rd world country my entire life until 21, when i made enough money to move overseas, America was not even on my mind with all the crime and it's degenerate culture was not really for me. So i travelled quite a bit and got really fond of Norway, living here for 6 years and regret nothing

The UK, France, Germany, Sweden, etc. Are having huge influxes of economic migrants. There are more polish speakers in the UK than Welsh. The leader of the country is Hindu. The US isn't unique among developed countries for economic migrants

judging a restaurant by the length of the line is so stupid. tons of restaurants have long ass lines because of good marketing, or some famous person is behind the franchise, or some other shit like that, all while the food is two steps from dogshit.

You don't have lines before the best restaurants. You have to make reservations. This knucklehead has no idea.😅Oh and I like to judge restaurants by the quality of the food. Thanks man, this was funny.

Did he slip into unconsciousness when Destiny said of course if you compare to places like Brazil and other less wealthy countries?

Also when it comes to life and death. I'm not waiting 2 hours in line to get what is most likely okay food. I'm not letting these people hijack my brain.

The way you judge a restaurant is by eating at it. You shouldn't think it's good because everybody else likes it but because you liked it.
