4000 വർഷം പഴക്കമുള്ള പരശുരാമൻ സ്ഥാപിച്ച ആദ്യത്തെ വൈഷ്ണവ ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് പന്നിയൂർ വരാഹമൂർത്തി ക്ഷേത്രം .
വരാഹം മൂന്നാമത്തെ ഭഗവാൻ്റെ അവതരമാണെന്നറിയാലോ.' വരാഹം എന്നാൽ പന്നി എന്നും മലയാളത്തിൽ അർഥമുണ്ട്. വരാഹത്തിൻ്റെ ഇടതു തുടയിൽ
ആലിംഗന ഭാവത്തോടെ ഇരിക്കുന്ന ഭൂമിദേവിയാണ് ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠ .
ഭൂമിപൂജ , അഭീഷ്ട സിദ്ദിപൂജ പ്രധാന വഴിപാടുകളിൽ പെടും. വരാഹ ജയന്തിയാണ്
പ്രധാന ആഘോഷം.
അഭീഷ്ടം എന്തോ അത് മൂന്ന് തവണ ഇവിടെ വന്ന് മനസ്സിൽ ചൊല്ലി വിളിച്ച് അഭീഷ്ട വഴിപാടും കഴിച്ചാൽ നിശ്ചയമായും പ്രാർഥന ഫലിക്കുമെന്ന് വിശ്വാസം.
പെരുംതച്ചനുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട് ഐതിഹ്യം നിലനിൽക്കുന്ന ക്ഷേത്രമാണ്. പെരും തച്ചൻ്റെ ഒരു ശാപ കഥയും ഉണ്ട്. പന്നിയൂരമ്പലം പണിമുടക്കില്ല എന്നതാണ് ശാപം. പെരുംതച്ചൻ വലിച്ചെറിഞ്ഞ ഉളിയും മുഴക്കോലും ക്ഷേത്ര കെട്ടിടത്തിൽ ഇന്നും കാണാൻ കഴിയും.
മനോഹരമായ ഒരു വലിയ ചിറ ഇവിടെ ഉണ്ട്. വരാഹം തൻ്റെ തേറ്റ കൊണ്ട് മണ്ണ് ഇളക്കിയെടുത്ത് ഉണ്ടാക്കിയതാണ് ചിതയെന്നു വിശ്വാസം .ഇവിടെ നിന്ന് മാറ്റിയ മണ്ണ് വീണ സ്ഥലം തുറകുന്ന് എന്ന് വിളിക്കുന്നു.
പരശുരാമൻ ബ്രാഹ്മണർക്കാർക്കായി ദാനം ചെയ്ത 64 ഗ്രാമങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നാണ് പന്നിയൂർ.
തൊട്ടപ്പുറത്ത് മറ്റൊരു ഗ്രാമം കൂടിയുണ്ട്. ശുകപുരം . ഒരു കാലത്ത് ജ്ഞാനികളാൽ സമ്പന്നമായിരുന്നു രണ്ട് ഗ്രാമങ്ങളും.

I am a resident of kumbidi at present I am not staying there. Sri Varahamurty temple was visible from my house ie just 400 hundred mtrs away. Now it is not visible as many houses have come up In this temple there was no NITTYA POOJA for many years may be in 1970 1980 period. Prior to that there was a poojari from Ravadatthu house. He used to do pooja of this temple and one more shiva temple. After that a local committee was formed and after raising fund and again other activities pooja and other things were restored. Under the local committee temple became more popular and more devotees startef visiting and income increased. Then came kozhikode samudiri representative and took over the temple and one retired military major was appointef to look after. THERE IS NO REFERENCE OF SUCH PAST INCIDENTS IN THE NARRATION. Now there is more than 10 JEEVANAKKAR in this temple .In another vedio there is an i nterview of melshandi or poonri. But he is there for last 2 years prior to that there was a poorr poojari for last more than 10 years

So we should thank the local committee whose hard work which helped the temple to come up and to start the daily ritual and poojas. I was not a member and I was out of kerala but I know the fact. So in the future vedios this matter should be included
