It's still a great camera now near the end of 2020. I only had a few days to use it before my shoot with Panasonic back in 2017. That wasn't enough time to really dig into everything it can do. I had been shooting Nikon since the 70s. My D800 hasn't been used in over 2 years as the GH5 easily won me over. Great images and stunning video. Well done video explaining it all.

Hi Ali, i've got the 12-35 lens for my GH5 and i'm struggling to get good low light footage. What would you suggest to purchase to turn the GH5 to be a low light beast? i want it to be easy to capture and top quality in any dark area, thought about low focal lens with 1.2 or 1.7, please advice 🙏🏻
@filmmakerali6 жыл бұрын
Hey Ron, if you do a lot of low light then the Sigma 18-35mm is a good option then there is the 25mm 1.4 lens
@RonBilevich6 жыл бұрын
@@filmmakerali thanks Ali, i prefer prime and native, which do you think better in low light, 25 1.4 or 42.5 1.2 ? Does the price of the 42.5 worth it?
@SatchFresh5 жыл бұрын
Ron Bilevich did you buy one of the two lenses? I’m trying to figure out the same thing with low light shooting. I have the 12-35 as well.
@Albanez395 жыл бұрын
@@RonBilevich You should get a speedbooster and some vintage lenses. If you want sharpness, get Canon FD or Carl Zeiss primes. If you want unique lenses, get the Soviet Helios, Mir, Vega, Industar etc. Vintage lenses are cheap and fast. For the speedbooster I recommend the Viltrox EF-M2, or you can get speedboosters for M42 and FD mount. You can buy a Viltrox (Canon EF) and adapt vintage lenses to it with an additional dummy adapter (e.g. M42 to EF adapter - EF to Micro4/3 speedbooster - GH5)

People have had good results with Lexar x1000 (150Mbps), and they are pretty cheap. I bought my GH5 yesterday and I'm going to order them soon. You can get two 128GB Lexar x1000 for about $55 on B&H.

Thanks Ali (subbed) - so do you sometimes video in 1080 10 bit (I never get asked for 4K). I work on stages a lot as you can see from last KZbin upload and still.trying to figure if I'd be able to single point AF (not tracking AF) with the GH5 in relative lowlight as I don't have time to MF very often. I've just watched a few latest GH5 reviews that show the latest firmware upgrade on the GH5 means you can use the camera like this a lot of he time.
@filmmakerali6 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark, yes I film in 1080 10bit all the time for my clients it's great and very to edit. absolutely yes the new firmware has improved AF I just dont really ever use it at the moment
