One of the last times we'd ever hear Phil hit the high notes at the end... shame, he had such a voice on him back then

This is the best live version of Cemetery Gates ever. Phil Anselmo has never, ever been this good. His voice is just so clean. It might be even better than the album version in my opinion. Amazing. Pantera was, and still is the seed that every metal band from Lamb of God to Mastodon grew out of.

Are you kidding me? Cemetery Gates with whole ending... This is the most rare thing pantera fan could ever found.Thank you so much for posting this stuff...

Great version! It's nice to hear how clean Phil's voice used to sound like, especially considering how deep and gritty his vocals got in the later Pantera years.

Lol Phil sounds like 16 years old :) R.I.P Dimebag
@TheMattinara12 жыл бұрын
it is slightly sped up. But not fake. it was recorded with analogue tape cassette. THe speeds that the little gears turned vary from recording device to recording device, thus dictating the pitch at which we hear it played back. here, its almost a half step higher than when it was played.
@nomandad2000Ай бұрын
I don’t think so . Back then his voice was like that.
@mtbasher15 жыл бұрын
the reason why it sounds higher pitched is because the audio is sped up a little, but that is pantera

It is. The old recording got messed up a bit, and thus making the whole thing play at a higher pitch. It is Phil, allright. Notice the guitar/bass is tuned higher than usual as well.
@ThePrez9215 жыл бұрын
I think someone raised the pitch of the video, there's no way pantera was tuned up this high. even said that, phil sounds great here!

for a sped up concert song on 1990 Phill sounds epic and it's him for people who doubt it despite the fact it's high-pitched and sped up Phill is awesome on this

Phil brought cemetery gates to the band! If you don t trust this is Phil do this. Download the song, slow it a little bit down and than change a pitch one tone lower.That is how Phils voice changed...

I cant belive so many people want to doubt this. have none of you heard of bands playing faster or slower live, or the fact that your voice deteriorates as you age. Phil was rather young still and yet to start using the harsher more gutteral voice he is now famous for when this bootleg was recorded.

To everyone comlaining about this "not being Phil" Phil wrote Cemetery Gates at this time. So someone tell me how this is a cover if this is played before the song was even released? It's most definitely Phil. He sounds different because of the fact that he is not heavily on drugs yet. ALSO, anyone who says Phil can't sing and never could needs to watch this video. It's just about the most amazing performance ever.

It is Phil! And it is not speeded up! Just listen to early Pantera, I don't mean early like CFH, but some older stuff. Phil wasn't screaming so much, that changes ones voice too. But, you can hear clearly that this is Pantera and the singer is Phil. For 100%

This is sped up for sure!!!! I can tell you this for certain because I saw them live several times before and after CFH and never once did they sound like this. If you really want to hear for yourself take a song from power metal before phil started putting that growl in his voice and speed it up you will identify very quickly that this is still him just sped up a touch, not to mention you can hear it easily in vinnies drumming. FOREVER PANTERA!!!!!

Jake Harvey Sounds an awful lot like him on the album, the guitar playing being slightly faster wouldn't be unusual at a Pantera live show either. I don't think it's sped up.
@lucattsur4 жыл бұрын
@@OcarinaofKillingTime it is sped up. Cassettes and other analogic sources had that "deffect" sometimes it recorded to a slower speed and when playback to normal speed the pitch went up.
@maziku474913 жыл бұрын
@MagnumBullets47 if by edited you mean it's sped up, then ok. it does sound sped up and thats probably due to it coming from a cassette tape.

@thepestun Phil's voice underwent a radical transformation during that year, if u notice on the recorded demos of CFH , if u compare his voice there with his voice on the full length CFH release, there is a difference and if u compare to Power Metal there's an even bigger difference also and that was only 2 years prior , during the tour for CFH his voice's tone got worse and he cudnt hit any high notes anymore also , so ya ther was a big change, probably from all the booze and drugs, I dno
