Papa SV Delos in da House | Florida Intracoastal Waterway - Ep. 320

“How are you feeling?” Kazza asks my dad. His reply- “With my hands! That’s a Grandpa-ism…”. And that pretty much describes having my dad, Papa SV Delos, onboard for a cruise through the iconic Intracoastal Waterway. In this episode we transit the ICW from Ft. Lauderdale to Boca Raton, doing our best to avoid hitting any bridges and running aground! With a mast height of nearly 70 feet we need to open all 10 bridges along the way. It's never a dull moment onboard with my dad and his antics!

You guys would have loved the ICW from Sebastian all the way to Coconut Grove back in the late 40's and 50's. My early years. I was born in the Grove area and we traveled the ICW often with my dad delivering boats for buyers and sellers as a part time job (3 or 4 times a year) along with his other jobs. Not many bridges to deal with back then. But going north from Sebastian there were some low ones. We were blessed that most of the deliveries were power boats and not sail so the bridges didn't hold us up that much, Just a few if the boat had a mast. Hope you enjoy Florida and spend some time in the Keys where I spent most of my time,

I never knew that the Intracoastal Waterway existed! And wow, I thought I knew a lot about this kind of topic!!! I grew up along the Hennipen Canal, an effort to connect the great lakes to the Mississippi River. Great idea, but too much fertile ground, that would crumble, and fill the canal very quickly with sod and such. In any case, thank you for your videos. I truly love you guys.

Thanks for sharing the stretch between Boston and Brownsville Tx. my great grandparents traveling from Brownsville with 12 children somehow found TN. Then had 3 more children one being my grandmother. She has been back several times before passing away last month. I just love to hear stories of Brownsville and hope to visit one day. I hope things are different there now as none of them came to TN.believing in electricity or water in the home.Lol. I loved seeing Brian get time with his dad and other brother. The highlight of this episode was Brian's dad and Sierra aka: lil nugget dancing. Priceless moment and you have it all on film for her to one-day watch. Y'all no one day she is gonna watch these and say man I really do have the coolest hard working parents EVER. Catch ya next week. ☮️, 💓 and 🐕

This is when you realise how wealthy the States is. Regardless of all the issues with repairs, maintenance etc, just look at this amazing waterway. I've been up here and also they have loads of bridges on the Miami River, the sheer infrastructure of this very small part of the States leaves you just in wonder.

very informative, i saw this channels many time but i had no idea there are all connected and making such a long waterway. My grandpa was on one of this German submarines in the Atlantic and made some trips to the US of A, finally he never made it back home and disapeared like many german submariners and cargo ships sailors may they all rest in peace

I am new to this channel, when I found it I marathon watched all episodes from the beginning in less than 2 month. I would have done it faster but work and family kept interrupting me. I follow several sailing KZbin channels but you guys are in a league of your own. Fun thing is how Kazza changed her English from a mix with Svengelsk Australian to Svengelsk American over the years. Welcome to South Florida guys. Small world, figured you would show up sooner or later. Lol. Just a little south of you guys, you passed us on your way up. Pop's looks like a real character 🤙🏼 nice to see you all together. Unfortunately our boat is a work in progress or we'd come say hello. There's another Anchorage in Pompano just south of Atlantic & free moorings in the ocean just south of Hillsboro inlet that are nice. Also if you go out Hillsboro on a calm day you can anchor by the beach on the north side. Don't tell anyone 🤣✌🏽💓😄

I saw a video of some people going to clean up Boca after a party weekend. They picked up a ton of beer bottles, sunglasses, vap sticks and a few lost anchors from people running over their anchor lines. I miss Brady it will be good to see him next week.
