That 2019 team is actually taller and better than the 2014 team. Problem is, 2 weeks preparation time lang. And that's the World Cup. SBP is so complacent siguro kasi maganda nilaro ng team nung 2014. 2019 was a disaster kasi isipin mo, ilang scrimmage game lang nilaro nila? Ivory Coast, and the one against Adelaide 36ers na hindi pa buo roster nila. This 2023 team will exceed expectations given how they will be given the same preparation formula of 2014 kung saan naglaro tayo ng test matches against World Cup teams at nagkaroon pa ng camp sa Europe at Miami.

@@VS-np3yq I know all of that. Well itong qualifiers may main core of Ramos, Thompson, Perez, Japeth, Rayray and etc. din naman tayo. They played for a couple of games together this qualifiers much like the Gilas 2.0 team of 2012 who rules the Jones Cup, won silver medal in FIBA Asia 2013, won bronze in 2014 fiba Asia Cup.

Agree with the narrative that Gilas is close to being ready. Madaming moving pieces pa pero getting there. It is now with how SBP and Chot would command the full preparation towards the WC Meet after the qualifying windows, hoping they would steer the program to where it should be. In my own inflated wishlist, hoping there would still be chance of having JC as a local with JB as naturalized making the team super competitive. I think Gilas couldnt afford to lose the grit of JB neither JC’s skills. Tough draw to wish for it sa FIBA, yet if this would be granted this would be SBP’s greatest achievement as it turns full throttle with their WC preparation. All we can do at the moment is support and wish them the best before and on WC mismo! All the love for Gilas Pilipinas, Gilas yan eh!!!

Chot improved and adjusted throughout the windows. Credit to him talaga. Although may favorites siya (e.g. Pogoy), he can adjust without them. Offense got better, hindi na puro iso DDO. Mas fluid na.

@@romelimmense I was speaking in context of binibigyan siya ng chances kahit hindi maganda ang track record niya sa FIBA. Yes, maayos siya maglaro noong November window, credit to him, pero overall, bad ang FIBA career niya, especially after the 2017 Asia Cup (where he played good). Dami niyang misses sa FIBA (40% FG, 27.5% from 3), at saka last window ko lang nakita na maganda ang depensa niya, although maganda ang effort (probably the coaching kung bakit last window lang OK ang depensa). At saka, consistency lang sana, hindi 'yung for every good game, you have 3 subpar games. After last window, he's probably a good option, pero I'm putting JC, Dwight, Parks, Heading, and Perez above him at 2 for this WC.

Spot on sa defensive shortcomings. That should be a point of emphasis going into the WC. We need to get good defenders like Balti (bad post defender, but great help defender), Malonzo, Japeth, Dwight, CJ, Scottie, and Parks in the Final 12. At saka kailangang higpitan talaga ang depensa, because I think that should be our identity going forward. A solid and sound defense.

What I like from their showing this recent window is that what we lacked could be provided for by the players that were absent. Imo, you could swap out T.Ravena, Oftana/Quiambao, Amos and probably even Fajardo and swap in Sotto, Tamayo, Aguilar, Ildefonso/Abando at Clarkson/Edu kung pagpapalain and we could have a decent for our standards showing. This isn't a knock on those players, it's just that they're either redundant on the squad, or there are just more better fitting players on the sidelines to fill in for what they lacked this recent window.

Kung small ball unit lang sa WC, lalamunin lang sila ng mga Euro at Latin teams, yung mga tipo ng Nowitzki na center na 7'2 di na kayang bantayan yun ni JB kung gagawin lang syang center parang ginawa sa laro vs. Jordan. On point re: the flimsy defense & missed rotations. The lack of defensive ceiling also emboldened the Jordan team. That said, I'm glad we saw these shortcomings at a non-bearing game. I just feel bad for the folks who doled out thousands for tickets and had to watch a lackluster first half. Iskati will bounce back, just as how he bounced back during his college days. He's done far too many good things for Gilas to be defined by 2 free throws. 🔥🔥

Final Line Up ko, PG: Scottie Thompson, CJ Perez, Jordan Heading SG: Jordan Clarkson, Dwight Ramos, Ray Parks jr SF: Jaime Malonzo, Carl Tamayo PF: Japeth Aguilar, AJ Edu C: Kai Sotto, June Mar Fajardo This is the best possible line up. Our PGs will have the size and skills to defend the other countries big PGs. Plus all our PGs have different skillsets the can add a different flavor to the team. Scottie is more of a traditional PG, he shines with his defensive capabilites, hustle and playmaking skills. CJ is more of the Jayson Castro role, breakdown the defense off of the drive and kick out to the open shooters. Heading will be the most comfortable playing with the ball dominant Clarkson due to his elite shooting. Parks and Dwight are wingmen that are probably the two of the most complete players we have for our team. Two versatille players that can play both sides of the court. Jordan Clarkson will be the engine of our offense. If our initial offensive sets breakdown we have a NBA 6th man of the year calliber offensive talent that can get us a bucket when we need it. The key is for the coaching staff to install a system that will maximize Clarkson's abilities withing the team system. Jaime Malonzo is the energy guy off the bench, his job is to raise the intentisty of the game everytime he is in the game. He has the most potential to guard the big wings of other countries in the WC, like Nic Batum, Cedi Osman, Yuta Watanabe, etc... Carl Tamayo is our swiss army Forward. Depending on the line up he can play as a 3 or 4. He has the full package on offense; post up, mid randge, 3-point. When he plays against bigger slower guys, he can attack of the dribble. AJ Edu and Japeth will provide us with two agile bigmen that can anchor our defense. Two players that can play within the system without requiring the ball as much. June Mar will provide us a back to the basket bigman that we can go to to slow the game. Kai Sotto will be the rim protector and lob threat. Our main bigman.

At king sila sila din na napili nito 6th window tingin ko kulang ng big man na mas makakahabol sa depensa sa opensa kase ayos na sa depensa nabiro pa ni Coach Chot on an interview na muntik daw maatake sa puso si Coach Cone, so alam natin na sa Depensa at rim protectors ang kulang sa ngayon. Legit yung observation mo bro.. kasi hindi naman asian countries makakalaban natin sa world cup.. mas mabibilis at mas malalaki kwsa sa jordan ang makakalaban natin.. icompare mo sa world cup 2014 na long preparation plus me blatche pa.. hindi umabot ng 2nd round. Yan pa kaya na napaka daming uncertainties.. take note yung mga nakalaban ng gilas nung 2014 ni isa walang umabot ng qtr finals . Meaning, bracket natin ang pinaka mahina non..

Sa PBA nga din sa EASL ay nakakalungkot naging resulta may imports pa nun 2, kaya system at chemistry din bukod sa preparation sana magawan pa rin way mag improve ng record kumpara sa 2019.

Sa tingin ko mga 75% palang ang gilas para sa wc. Mas maganda siguro yung mga shoo in para sa wc e makapaglaro sa mga nalalabing laro ng gilas bago ang mismong wc. Yung SEA games pwede dapat yung team natin dun e dapat nandun na yng mga players na sigurado na para sa wc.
