I think even in your examples of the Schwa. It could be divided into two vocals. For instance the Schwa in [Ever] or [Police] we pronounce it with "uh". But in [Taken] or [Pencil] we pronounce it like there is an absence of vocal; like Pen-ssl. In Korean we use "ㅓ" and "ㅡ" to differentiate these two vocals.

Hello,I wanted to add that in America, in the Northeast region, New England, You'll hear the schwa sound quite often, actually even as far south as Philadelphia. Proper pronunciation is more Midwestern, they have a much clearer way of speaking.

How do you say when one person pronounces the word "doctor" or "teacher" with /ə/ sound and other person with /ɑː/ sound? Are both of them using the schwa sound in their pronunciation? Does the/ə/ sound represent the standard way to pronounce the schwa sound and the /ɑː/ sound is it the Cockney one? Hope I expressed myself well.

@simoneolivia64649 жыл бұрын
Hey there ! Honestly, keep your accent as it is. I know that having a French accent can be uncomfortable in a way when you live in an english-speaking country but having an english accent in the US is the same. Besides, you'll have people asking you if you're British and all that sort of stuff and it might just get awkward. And don't forget that they actually prefer a French accent, they find it sexier. ;)
