I have a decent spice tolerance, I can eat Paqui’s ghost pepper chips no problem. This chip was on sale at the grocery store a couple months back so I got it just for kicks and not only was it inedibly spicy (and tasted godawful), but about 4 hours later when I was in the shower I collapsed to the ground in inconsolable stomach pain, some of the worst pain I’ve ever felt. Had me googling whether I should go to the hospital, and I found a Reddit thread of people describing the exact same experience. Eventually threw up for the first time in over 10 years.

Yeah, had that experience with other ultra-spicy things. Weird how it takes a few hours for the stomach to be like "nope, rejected." You'd think if that was going to happen it would be a lot sooner.

I’ve eaten ghost peppers and Carolina reaper peppers. I prefer Habaneros and I can eat ghost peppers without too much trouble. Carolina Reapers are too much for me but in chili diluted they’re great for adding a specific type of heat that builds up.

I've had that happen with reaper candy. If you eat really spicy food by iteself on an empty stomach it essentially poisions your stomach acid and burns your stomach lining & intestines. This only happens when you're eating basically just straight spice (such as fast dissolving candy or the light carbs of a chip) normally spice from hot sauces absorb into the food you're already eating/digesting and you don't feel any pain. I was in horrible pain for an hour and threw up straight liquid. If you're going to eat the chip make sure you eat food before such as bananas.

I once did the one chip challenge and filmed it. It really wasn't that hard. I walked around for a bit and after 20 mins the pain was gone. After 40 mins I sat down and fell asleep. I woke up 2 hours later with molten lead in my stomach. I ran to the bathroom to throw up but because I hadn't eaten anything there was nothing to throw up. I spent half an hour dry heaving before collapsing on the ground and crying in the fetal position

I could deal with the initial part, aka eating it. It had no actual taste, just fire. Pretty bad, but i didn't expect great flavor on something with the only selling point being how hot it is. A few hours later, it was my stomach's turn to fight this little devil. It was a harsh battle, cold sweats, rolling in the snow to fight the pain, trying to take my mind off of it. Eventually, the pain subsided. That was it, i conquered the beast. Cheers i say! Cheers! Unfortunately... it wasn't finished with me. You see, not many people speak of this secret third round, the one where it punches below the belt. No matter how you train yourself against spice, you can't train your butthole. I lost the third round.

I do hot wing challenges and make my own ghost pepper sauce, and that blue chip was the second worst spicy thing I have ever tasted. The first being a fresh Carolina reaper. The chip is so dry, powdery, and disgusting that it refused to actually be swallowed, making the spice more intense than it really was. The saving grace was that unlike a lot of spicy things, the burning subsided fairly quickly (10 to 15 minutes or so)

That year's chip was brutal. It was absolutely slathered in spice. The mouth heat was hellish of course, but was over in 15-20min; what followed was 4 hours of excruciating stomach pain that worsened hour by hour until finally subsiding. I was chugging shots of half'n'half and guzzling water trying to put out the fire in my gut.

As someone who has tried this, I was happy to just to last five minutes and that is with me being a big spice guy. The coating is like a tar that coats your teeth, which means you have to expose your tongue to the pain of scraping it off. The burning in the mouth goes away around minute two or three. However, you then feel every moment of the chip going down your esophagus. That was the part that was so painful that I called it at the five minute mark. The burning in my esophagus/chest was so bad.
