@@Diivoniis It seems you have overlooked the short term.. Asking for a resource in exchange for another doesn’t require telling everyone your intentions on what you plan on doing with that new resource. It’s only situational when you want to tell everyone what your plans are.. Some examples I can give is that it’s in the endgame and you have a stuck hand on your turn and don’t want to be 7’d out.. Say you are one knight away from getting largest army so people are reluctant to trade with you.. You can then say you need the sheep for a settlement (1 point) and not largest army (2 points) in exchange for a resource you have a monopoly in. Maybe people think you’re trying to build an early settlement by asking for wood/brick when really you just want to build a road to reduce the cards held in your hand.. Maybe you’ve never bought a dev card but people are afraid you’re going to build another city with the wheat/ore you’re asking, letting them know you just want a dev card increases the chances as you aren’t really in the race for largest army, etc.. These are the moments when sharing your plan can benefit- but they’re infrequent occurrences…. And you only give out your plan when everyone has turned you down the first time. Sheldon was not playing cleverly, what you said is true but doesn’t exactly relate to the point being made by the OP.
@Xylarxcode Жыл бұрын
People that really need the resource you can offer in exchange for wood they don't need would be happy to make that trade. It's all about supply and demand. If you have something they want and vice versa, more often then not, a deal can be arranged. Whether you announce your plans or not depends on your group. In my group, we have a guy who plays with his cards open and frequently discusses his intentions. He ends up winning most games, because he's also really good at keeping track of what everyone else is doing and what their most likely courses of actions are and seeing to it that he either beats them to the punch, profits off their plans somehow or talks someone else into screwing them over in a way that benefits that player and himself. We have another guy who keeps everything a secret and never declares his intentions, but still loses board games very often (like 70% of the time, at least), because he never thinks far enough ahead. He's only concerned with his own plans and doesn't try to read the table and assess other people's motives and attempt to jump in on that. And most of the time, what he keeps secret isn't really that secret anyway, because when you take the resources, they are announced to the entire group. The dice landed on this number, so he got this many of resource X and Y. We remember what he has, look at the board and try to piece together his next plan of action and most often, we guess it right. You're not just playing the game, you're playing the other players too. You have to work with and against them at the most appropriate times in an attempt to come out ahead the furthest when all is said and done. Denying someone a resource because they're openly declaring their plans is dumb. If you can benefit from what they're willing to trade you for it and you can come out ahead in that deal, take it.

The laughter is very real, and except for the last part of the clip, there were very few retakes done in this episode. Kunal kept reacting off of the audiences laughter and could not hold a straight face anymore, so in the final episode they cut away from him quickly. So it leaves it to uncertainty if you are displeasured by the show, or simply the audience present at the recording who choose to express their amusement through laughter. Also if you're wondering, lol yes, those audience actually sit through their cuts as well, they can be watching in the studio for the entire day if they choose
@Duncan_Idaho_Potato11 жыл бұрын
The show is in fact recorded in front of a live audience, like most sitcoms. If you were so inclined, you could buy tickets to a live taping yourself online. 15 seconds on Google can confirm this for you, assuming you're not Google-stupid. The laughter is edited for the final episode to more closely match what is happening on the screen because audiences are inherently unpredictable and don't laugh, cheer and "awww" on cue. Just in case you've never been in an actual audience before.

At first I thought the joke was that Sheldon offering sheep for wood is laughable because wood is a more valuable resource than sheep early on. Guess the dick joke flew over my head.
@sntzksworld8 жыл бұрын
Well not really . Most people place their starting settlements near 8 and 6 and in the default none of them are adjacent to wool. So wool is more important in my opinion since everyone gets wood easily .
@LennoxLewis868 жыл бұрын
+Krishang Kagzi It depends on what your strategy is; expansion or development strategy. Whether you get wood easily depends on the board and your position of placing settlements. However, no matter the set-up, wood is mostly an early game resource and sheep is more of an endgame resource. So I value wood over sheep when everyone is still trying to expand.

Even though there is a live audience they will still use laugh tracks, if you been to a show you will notice they will ask you to make certain noises to a certain reaction in certain tones before the show starts. They do this so they can manipulate the tone of, e.g the laughter or the shock to the way they want . Also the laughter track can be used to show the audience what they are meant to laugh at, and where the jokes are. They use the noise track for the tv audience.

2:28 and 2:56 were honestly the only jokes that really landed for me. Even the first time they used the sheep and wood joke it just didn't work. I think it's because they had the actors start giggling while holding their hands over their mouths like children at a pretty mundane almost joke that made me cringe. The two jokes at the timestamps, though, felt genuine for the moment rather than shoehorning in 20 of the same wood for sheep joke. I, too, like Sheldon do not understand the laughter. Fun game, though. If you get a chance try it out. Make sure you build settlements on sheep and wood producing tiles so you don't have to beg for either.
