Glad you found it useful. We’ve just been travelling since then and we’ve never had much interest in any of the travel videos we’ve posted on this channel so we have nothing to post

My beau has that same cookoo clock and his doesn't work either. At 9:05, he is supposed to grab the foot and push the hand rim forward...that propels the chair into an upright position. It also sits him upright more in the chair.

Yeah just keep practicing and you'll get it eventually 😀 It took me a long time to learn and I still can't do it every time! Have you tried some of the tips to make it easier? I find they make a big difference if I'm struggling

So many great tips! I'm struggling with floor to chair transfers. I haven't managed it yet. A tip if one of your legs keeps falling to the side is to strap them together with a belt over the tighs.

I have tried strapping my legs together, it does help with my leg falling but I find it limits how far I can dive my head forward. This makes it more difficult to get my bum high enough so I try to avoid using it. I do have some friends who do strap their legs together for this transfer though! How long have you been trying for? It took me a few months of hard practice to finally succeed, and then even longer to get better at it.

@@adaptivetravel thanks for your answer. I've had my spinalcord injury for 1year and 8 month and I can't say I'm practising it every week but I really want to learn it now so that has to change. My arms and legs are very short compared to my upper body so that makes it even more difficult. How often did you train before you nailed it?
@adaptivetravel
@adaptivetravel 5 жыл бұрын
Having long arms is useful but I find my long legs very annoying! It took about 3 months of regular (almost everyday) practice until I could do it at all and then about another 6 months of just doing it when needed and experimenting with different techniques before I became comfortable with it. Technique is really important - when I have it spot on I can do a really high transfer but if there's something even slightly wrong with my technique I've got pretty much no hope of making it. What level is your injury at?

@@adaptivetravel I'm a c7/c8 but with full arm and hand strength. And I have no spasticity.

I'm T4 so if you have full hand and arm strength you probably have fairly similar movement and potential transfer ability to me (apart from arm length). If you're determined and put in the regular practice I'm sure you'll be able to nail it
