Parallax Lantern Origins - Monstrous Green Lantern Who Killed His Own Men & Slaughtered Billions

Hal Jordan is one of the most popular characters in the DC comics and also one of the founding members of the Justice League of America. The character first appeared in the 'Showcase' comic series, issue no. 22 and can be listed amongst the big guns in the DC universe. Being a green lantern, he had saved the planet and the universe numerous times. His willpower is unmatched by all green lanterns, and he is one of the most decorated members of the Green Lantern Corps. However, on a few occasions, Hal played a sinister role, even becoming a Yellow Lantern. Today we will talk about one such case where Hal turned evil from the animated movie: "Green Lantern: Beware my Power." Not only did the film provide a well-defined origin story of Green Lantern John Stewart, but we also got a different and ultra-powerful version of Hal Jordan. Director Jeff Wamester has this unique ability to converge minute details into a plot. "Justice Society: World War II" gave us a glimpse of his magnificent work, and with the recent green lantern movie, he proved himself again. So without further delay, let us begin.

I am never was a fan of turning Hal Jordan into a villain but if it’s executed right and the story is good I am willing to give it a shot but the way they handled parallax in this movie and killed him off felt kind of anticlimactic at least in my opinion.

They should have used green arrow, and get him close to death by something Hal did and because Hal almost killed his best friend, then he would lose the will to fight and the rings would abandon him. That's the weird thing. Originally it was Green Arrow, with Roy Harper's new protégé Damage (Oh, 90s.) creating the new universe so Hal can't. Kyle and Hal do later have a conversation. Hal is disappointed with his new universe and wants to try again. Kyle, thinking about Alex, realizes he could be just like Hal, but also that Hal's off the deep end, worthy of pity, but ultimately, he and the rest of the universe cannot coexist.

No, it was poorly written and they didn't consider the run-time of a "home movie." They didn't establish any rules concerning the rings, other than facts known to the reader of the comics. They didn't bother to power scale the Parallax and if Sinestro was greatly de-powered as a result. They never explained how Sinestro was able to snatch Stewart's ring every single time, much less Steward being able to use the ring lethally upon summoning it. Then again, we never saw Sinestro's ring leave his "dead body", nor did it happen to the dozen or so lanterns (on screen) on Oa. The entire narrative of the movie was terrible and it only took more than just a small squad of villains to over take an entire planet of Oa. Every C-List villain would've done that every single Tuesday. The movie doesn't answer issues with Oa in general. Is Stewart just going to chill on earth while the new recruits are expected to return to Oa and do all the funeral arrangements? Who sends their spouses their paper work for insurance claims, death certificates, social security? How do you contact anyone when everyone on Oa is assumed dead? Any arrangements for the dependents of said dead lantern, including pets, etc.? Shouldn't there be insane repercussions of all the guardians dying, like another big bad invading the universe? Yes, I'm being antagonizing because the writers could not be bothered to write a proper third act. It must be a huge shame that they couldn't squeeze in at least 2 minutes wrapping a bow on Hal's body, much less confirmation of Sinestro's death and the various other posse members.

It also robs John on a focus on his work which is the reason why he uses more solid and well designed constructs than Hal or Guy. And the focus on his trauma makes him being so good at being a Green Lantern when they are all about "the ability to overcome great fear" seem even more weird than it already is by the fact that he somehow beats the 2 best Green lanterns in the corps history after having only been one for less than a week. would at least be the reasons I could think off against him taking so many of Kyle's story points.

I think you get your comic stories mixed up Emerald Twilight only was about Hal becoming Parallax. During the first fight against Parallax that happened before Zero Hour did he while holding back pretty much one shot captain Atom and Wonder Woman and after a minor struggle beat Guy and Alan Scott. During Zero Hour it self were the likes of Superman entire powerless against Parallax and even Sector was beaten only weakening Hal enough so that he could be defeated afterwards. And mind you before the fight with Parallax did he already used huge powers to start his total universal reset (twice as the first attempt was stopped) And only after all of that was Green Arrow capable of getting 1 shot in to take Hal down.

Its totally inaccurate in all aspects. They used Kyle Rayner's origin for this. They also were using aspects of the final night comics and butchered it completely. Hal gave into fear due to a series of events namely the coast city's destruction. The parallax arc and Hal's redemption in rebirth are my favorite comics. This movie was terrible. I have nothing against John Stewart I wish they gave him a decent original story, not a rip-off of another lantern.
