Parallettes can be an amazing workout if you know how to use them. A great tool for upper body strength and learning to integrate the core with the rest of the body, especially the shoulders and arms.
This video will cover the basics of parallette training for the beginner. Topics covered will include...
* Simple body mechanics
* Parallete basic exercise program
* Training considerations
* buying or building tips
I use parallettes as a moving meditation/strength training workout. I find they lend themselves to this type of focused strength training because of isometric (static) holds that are such a major part of the training. It takes a lot of focus and will power, and if you want more of these this training is for you.

So glad I found this. Most “beginners” videos have way too many exercises I didn’t really know where to start. Or how many reps or how long to do them either.

Very informative video. I travel quite often for work and personally. I am looking for a set of parallettes which are sturdy and portable enough to pack in a suite case. I visited the link you posted for the parallettes on Amazon. They look sturdy but dont appear to be very portable. Do you have another recommendation?
@moversodyssey
@moversodyssey 7 жыл бұрын
Well it depends on what you want to be able to do on them. The ones posted above are suitable for any use and they do come apart but it will require a tool. The homemade version in this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/imPEdXSsgs6SgNE are easily portable and are my personal favorite but obviously these require some work upfront to build. This pair, amzn.to/2oJlUfo is great for travel but they are mini parallettes and are could be difficult for someone new to the training or someone with flexibility issues who might need more clearance. Sorry I don't have a better answer, always on the look out for a good travel pair. If I run across a good pair I will post them. Good luck

tempted to get into instead of just heavy lifting.. worth getting small paralettes or higher so can also do dips??
@moversodyssey
@moversodyssey 7 жыл бұрын
Its up to you. If they are going to be used only at your house then its usually works out well, although they do tend to be little wobbly if they are tall but cheap. If you want something portable definitely go smaller. Personally I use a homemade portable setup and I do my dips on rings mostly, which are portable too. The next video is a rings 101 video I should be posting today or tomorrow if you want to check them out. Good luck and let me know if you have anymore questions.

Check for parallettes with a wider, sturdier base perhaps. There are also dip stations that are basically tall parallettes who's base's are connected making it one solid unit. This could also be helpful on uneven ground.

Hey dude Please reply Can I use push up bar instead of parallettes ??
@moversodyssey
@moversodyssey 6 жыл бұрын
Dhanya Hegde , push up bars will work fine for certain movements and possibly for all the movement's if your hips are highly mobile. I myself started on pushup bars. Eventually in had to move to paralettes for things like l sit to hanstand press, but you could easily get a full workout without these movements.

How often can these exercises be done?
@moversodyssey
@moversodyssey 5 жыл бұрын
Depends on your current strength level and how much alternative training your doing. The limiting factor is usually the wrists, forearms, and elbows. If you haven't done similar work before, these structures can take a while to adjust to supporting the body. To get the most use out of the parallettes be sure to warm up the hands and forearms and use trigger point self massage on the forearms if they get sore. Hope this helps

When you do a planche, do you still have o squeeze your shoulder blades together? or is it okay to round the shoulders?
@moversodyssey

You won't squeeze them during planche, instead they will protract (round).

You would suggest a parallete 1 ft off the ground 12" for a beginner???
@moversodyssey
@moversodyssey 3 жыл бұрын
Yea it's a great height for most people, with the exception being those who have hip mobility issues. If your hamstrings are really tight you might have a little trouble. Best tool for the trade is a set of adjustable parallel bars like you might find at a calisthenics park or gymnastics center. But for home training a 12" set of parallettes or a sturdy, interconnected dip station is a great way to go. Dip station is usually easier but if you fall it feels a bit worse. Lol. Hope that helps, best of luck my friend
