Even though no one in the band was really happy in this era, this era has to be one the best Paramore has had musically. brand new eyes is one of their best albums (if not it is their best)

Mr. Benzedrine It was mostly Josh, but it was a domino effect. Josh's bad attitude rubbed off of everyone else, so everyone had a bad attitude and didn't really want anything to do with each other. Josh just was the one who made it the most public (obviously)

Hayley is such a fantastic singer. She’s so *expressive*. She sells anger like no one else. So many rock singers sing angrily and they just come across as cartoonish and unpleasant, Hayley makes it *compelling*.

@@dylanjordan4747 I’m sure that’s true, though I’m not sure what relevance it has to my point. I meant Hayley’s a good singer in a performative sense, she can sell what she’s singing, rather than pure technical quality (though she has that in spades too).

@alexwhittle789
@alexwhittle789 4 жыл бұрын
Have always thought their drummer was totally underrated, take for example the drumming in the section Hayley sings "mo-o-o-o-ore", that's such a hard beat to play accurately, and trust me if your drummer goes and messes up that one bit even slightly, the entire song stinks (at least in a live performance kind of a way, like the entire audience just goes "nah" and that's it, you've lost them)

How do they appear unhappy? The only reason their new music is "radiating happiness" compared to this music is because it's uppity pop music, it sounds like a completely different genre, hence people who like this music better preferring "this" Paramore.

I disagree. They are just more pensive and Josh Farro is really focusing on his guitar solos. That's why he's the best. He puts his heart and soul into it and drifts into the music, so you think he's unhappy. I know because I'm a musician.

invisibleradish While their genre shift isn't irrelevant sonic has a point. Firstly, James McGee hits a nail on the head. They did target an angst filled audience for a while. In addition to that detail, another theme of their music in Riot and All We Know is Falling (i havent heard much of their other stuff yet) was of christians striving to experience more of God and trying to overcome ones own fears and failings. My Heart is my favorite one of these where they express a longing for God to show them how they should worship and possibly to show them how they should procede with his plan for them in life. I wont make the claim that they should be treated like a contemp christian band, becuz they express much more than their faith, but their faith is in their music and has been.

I settled down A twisted up frown Disguised as a smile, well You would have never known I had it all But not what I wanted Cause hope for me Was a place uncharted And overgrown You'd make your way in I'd resist you just like this You can't tell me to feel The truth never set me free So, I did it myself You can't be too careful anymore When all that is waiting for you Won't come any closer You've got to reach out a little more More More More, more Open your eyes like I opened mine It's only the real world, A life you will never know Shifting your weight To throw off the pain Well You can ignore it But, only for so long You look like I did You resist me just like this You can't tell me to heal And, it hurts remembering How it felt to shut down You can't be too careful anymore When all that is waiting for you Won't come any closer You've got to reach out a little more More More More, more The truth never set me free The truth never set me free The truth never set me free So, I'll do it myself You can't be too careful anymore When all that is waiting for you Won't come any closer You've got to reach out Can't be too careful anymore When all that is waiting for you Won't come any closer You've got to reach out More More More More, more

***** They're not going to change just because you want them to. They're happy. And even if they went back to being the 'old paramore' their music won't be half as good because they wouldn't be enjoying it. That's the point of music, guys. You can't change that.

How weird must it have been for Josh to have played the songs from Brand New Eyes so many times when so many of them (including this one) were about him and are NOT complimentary at all?! Still, this was the best version of Paramore. They've had some good songs after this album, but they've never fully recaptured this magic.

Let's not forget he also gave music to those lyrics and they wrote together most of their songs. Josh gets always the bad blood because of what he said, but, both of them were too intense with the other, so probably that's why things got so tense between them.

@@watanukisglasses4537 That's what I was going to say. Clearly Josh and Hayley both had very strong convictions and were both very stubborn about budging from those. That was the problem. It's a real shame because their writing partnership was really something special, you could hear their musical chemistry even when they hated each other's guts.

nedzla100 It's a bit inhuman to say you like music because you must be a true fan. First and foremost music is for the soul, not for loyalty to other humans. But to each their own I guess. I'll stick with actually liking a song because I truly enjoy it.
@LordofTheFallen

nedzla100 By definition, a fan is someone who likes their music. If they change that music to something I don't like anymore, then I'm not going to be a fan of this new stuff. If they reach fame and riches with their new pop image, all the power to them, but I'm not going to proclaim myself a fan of something I don't like simply because I was a fan of their old stuff.
