My old friend from years ago was a paranoid schizophrenic. He was also the only TRUE genius I've ever met. It was an honor to know him, and my life will forever be influenced by his artistic mastery and his astounding, hypnotic stories drawn from human history (particularly WW2 U-Boat history, which sounds weird, but not when you heard him tell the tales). It was hard to unstitch the reality from his delusions, which would sometimes turn frighteningly violent. I had to cut that cord, but I'll miss him forever.

I’m schizophrenic. The thing is though, I’ve become extremely good at discerning hallucinations from reality. Delusions are more difficult, but again, I’ve had a lot of practice; more than 20 years of having to audit every single thought and experience I have. Ive also learned the hard way it’s best to keep your mouth shut around shrinks and those in any sort of position of authority.

My friend's wife was paranoid, they had to medicate her. She was convinced a lawyer they had dealings with and had stopped paying over a year before was out to get her. I tried telling her that lawyers don't do anything but for money, that there was no reason for him to want to hurt her, and she understood that; but then this spinning top in her head would start unraveling all the reasons this lawyer was out to get her, all she had done to make it possible for him that she regretted. It was wild to see how irrational yet how logical she made it all seem. She was convinced.

This is the mistake you all make. You think a job means ethics. When talking about the mind and the therapist, there is a thing called counter transference. This is where the therapist has conflicts with the subject because of their sensitivity to what has been told to them or presented. And cannot neutrally help the patient because of these conflicts. This is everywhere. Not just in mental health. It's in teachers that dont like a pupil because of their behaviour. It's in bosses that csnt fault a person's work but they single them out over a personality trait. It's in the general public when you find something about a someone and it changes your view of them. You think a job means someone is an ethical or neutral person? I knew a mental health nurse that went emailing people telling g them their sons new gf had mental health issues etc. She did this because she didn't like the girl and had even bullied her at school. Does that sound like a mental health nurse? Does that fit your comment?

She was reasonable in her speech, she was lucid, she presented her views modestly and moderately with very good boundaries. I think she was targeted for her controversial beliefs. I have a friend who I have personally diagnosed as being paranoid and things like, " I didn't get it at the time but later on, I connected the dots and figured it out," or " I don't know how these complicated harming or listening devices and methods work but they're using it somehow," hit home so well, like you took the words right out of my friend's mouth. but really sometimes I wonder how the hell is someone supposed to help paranoid people at all, because anything you say to counter their arguments just becomes part of the bigger plan that we're all in it together to harm them. but all of their behaviour is so by the textbook, all of them act the same aparently.
