CarcinogenSDA, the madman, took more than a week of continuous resets in order to accomplish this run. I don't know someone else how managed a No Damage Parasite Eve game until now. To any wanting to read this do buckle up. It is a wall of text. 20:00 To elaborate, about a third of the chests/pickups in this game have a drop table. Most of the time they have two possible items with either 50% chance each or 80% for one and 20% chance for the other, mostly +1/+2 same type weapon/armor upgrades for the later. 27:45 What most wouldn't know is how much millage carci got out of revives for practice. 45:00 This is actually true for the first 3 days. There are only 2 mod permits and 2 trading cards during days 2 and 3. Those that know shouldn't worry, carci knows and used that. 50:40 Unseen too is how much millage he got out of this and another armor with the same effect while routing and learning enemies. Also, Auto-Recover uses the most powerful recover item in the player inventory once HP drop to about 35% of max. 1:20:55 The official guide lies here, I tried save scum that chest 50 times and never got a tool. 1:31:55 To elaborate, this is the only place were one must pass through to progress that has the "Plant" monster, they are slow moving monsters that attack with their long vines from the front and large toxic clouds from behind. The fact only one plant needs to be fought in the entire game is actually a good thing because the other two fights are against multiple of them and one of these is in a very narrow battlefield. 1:57:05 For those wanting to stash day 2 items before cleaning Soho. Just enter the gun shop then go back to the car. 1:58:00 Since Club 2 can steal items I'll be noting interesting items to steal from enemies. 2:02:30 This is also a good moment to note weapon speeds. -Of the non-special weapons submachineguns have the fastest animations and have a x1 ATB multiplier but have most horrible abilities and low base attack power. -Pistols have the second best animation speeds and have the same multipliers than machineguns, they also tend to have the most slots for weapon abilities of all weapon categories. -Rifles have the most base range of all weapons but their animations are slow and have an ATB multiplier of x0.8. -Shotguns always come with the burst ability but are just as slow as Rifles on both fronts. -Grenade launchers have either an element or an ailment ability but are on the same ballpark as Rifles on speed. -Rocked Launchers have a lot of power and cause a damage AoE around the selected target but one cannot transfer abilities or stats to, have the slow animations and have a glacial x0.4 ATB multiplier. -Finally clubs are melee only with slow attack animations but have a x2 ATB multiplier. Because of the above, submachineguns are the recommended weapon of choice once tuned since their high speed makes them have a better DPS than other weapons anyway. 2:27:40 What are you doing past carci!? That CR evade +2 might have made a low damage attack that would crit deal 0! 2:40:55 For the interested, carci is not going to the room straight from the stairs because the fight in there is a miniboss wolfman (defense +1/+2 steal) in an enclosed space. There are goodies, including a hidden piece of armor, but it is basically impossible to take no damage. 2:43:05 Same as the last one. The encounter inside was skipped. Room drops are two medicine 3 and a full cure. 2:47:00 Sheeva AoE is one of the hardest attacks to block. If the last hit absorbed doesn't consume the barrier exactly, it will deal damage. 3:02:00 carci could have used tranq, even though it is not guaranteed to paralyze enemies, the chance is calculated for every bullet hit and a good chunk of the enemies before the museum are not immune to tranq either. Most enemies are immune to tranq within the museum though. 3:10:15 With a trading card in hand, it doesn't matter too much what you get out of this chest since both possible weapons have similar stats. That said, the micro UZ has more slots from the get go. 3:12:10 This is enemy has a little trick to him. If one goes and kills all ~95 ball that it can spawn, the enemies will drop a different item. The first item for enemy new game or new game+ is always a super tool, then every time after that it will drop a full recovery or a full cure. This is the only way to farm this healing items in the game. I recommend doing this at least once for the guaranteed super tool using a rifle later on in this same day. There's also another bonus in the form of BP but I'll explain that later. 3:23:55 This is another enemy of note, it is unique to this room and one can steal a defence +1 (common), +2 (rare) or tool (very rare). It can also be respawn the same way one can refight any normal encounter. 3:40:55 Presented is one of the harder enemies to dodge in the game. Webs have a large AoE and come in one of two patters chosen from distance between Aya and the boss, a fast melee up close and either slow or fast moving fireballs. During the secon phase one can steal a tool (common) or super tool (very rare). 3:45:25 One can mug a offence +1 (common) or +2 (rare) from this spider. 3:57:40 A good place as any to explain ALL weapon abilities, also known as added effects and weapon skills: -Rate x2, x3, x5, x7, x10: it indicates how many bullets a weapon can fire per round. While individual bullets become weaker and it takes longer to move, the overall DPS done per round is increased so long as the animation ends before the ATB fully fills and a full volley is fired. x5 can only be found in pistols and submachineguns, x7 and x10 in submachinegun only. Rates will overwrite one another when tuned into other weapons. -Double/Triple Command: increases the amount of rounds one can take every time the ATB fills. It is just as strong as it sounds. Both can only be found in pistols with triple command being unique to a NG+ pistol. -Quickdraw: a 70~90% chance of entering battle with the ATB fully filled. Very strong, specially since most encounter take 2~3 rounds to clear. I don't know the exact chance mechanics. Only found pistols with this. -Counterattack: Chance of firing a volley of shots to an enemy that successfully attacked Aya with the rate of fire. Can be useful but do remember that Aya cannot move while firing thus be unable to dodge attacks. Can be found in NG+ pistols and rifle. -Random: Targets are chosen randomly from targets within range of fire and the amount of bullets fired are increased by ~50%. Very bad, mainly because one cannot focus enemies down and aiming at a different enemies takes longer than firing consecutively at the same enemy. found only in submachinegun. -Burst: The weapon will hitting enemies in a ~90° cone in front of were Aya is aiming at. Very useful, also saves on ammo. All shotguns have this. -Attack All. Shots all enemies on screen with one's rate of fire per round. A good alternative to burst but it might make Aya stand around longer while shooting and uses more ammo than burst. found in NG+ on submachineguns only. *Random, Burst and Attack All are mutually exclusive and will overwrite one another. Critical Up: increases the amount of critical hits scored, percentage observe to become ~70% from ~35%. A no brainer to use. Exclusive to NG+ rifles and club. -Acid: Enemies weak to poison get instantly poisoned at lose HP fast, immune enemies cannot be poisoned; the rest have a chance to be poisoned per bullet hit and slowly lose hp if poisoned. It has no downside, a good placeholder if anything else. Grenade launcher only. -Tranq: Freezes enemies in place for a few seconds; enemies weak to Paralysis get frozen on bullet hit; immune enemies are unaffected and the rest have a chance of getting paralyzed. Better than poison. Grenade launcher only. -Heat: Enemies weak to fire take 50% more damage, enemies resistant to fire take ~90% less damage and the rest take damage as normal; also creates a small damaging AoE around fire weak enemies on the final hit of each round. While it is useful against fire weak enemies, the small AoE can hurt Aya too and any weapon with this will deal scratch damage against fire resistant enemies; I cannot recommend this. Found only in Grenade launcher. -Frost: Copy paste of heat but against ice weak/resistant enemies. I haven't tested whether or not it causes a damaging AoE. Grenade launcher ditto. -Cyanide: Weapon deals damage equal to an enemies current HP instantly killing them; enemies weak to this effect will die in one bullet and other non-immune enemies have a chance of dying from any bullet. All bosses except the alligator and some minibosses are immune to this, it's really good at cleaning encounter with Burst or Attack All. Only one NG+ grenade launcher has this. Any skill might be moved to any other weapon of any category except for clubs, abilities and stats can only be moved to and from other clubs only. Rocket Launchers, cannot be tuned with tools at all. While some weapon skill can only be found in certain weapon categories, they can be freely moved otherwise outside of the mentioned exceptions. 4:07:45 This guys have Junk (common) or Tool (rare) to steal. I takes a while to save scum two tools out of them but getting one should take no more than 2 to 5 tries if unlucky. 4:13:05 As far as bosses go, this one is pretty easy. There's another tool steal from the centipede head, do note that the centipede head is the only target during the first phase. 4:20:40 I actually did some did some testing on the Museum puzzles. It seems all puzzles have a high chance of having out 30 ammo or medicine 3, a rare chance of giving out a tool(!!) or a medicine 4, and a very rare chance of the prize being a revive when answered correctly. They can be save scummed for the desired item too. PD:I'll be seeing this in parts. I'll edit this comment as things become relevant.

yeah and since this joke of a remake for ff7 will probably be their highest selling game ever, that's what you'll get from them from now on, remakes of great rpgs turned into mediocre action games and split into several parts. after they're done milking 7 they'll probably move onto 8. i just don't get what people see in ff7r, it's like they're completely brainwashed by hype. it would have been so much better if they didn't worry so much about polygon counts and just gave us a better looking version of the original complete game with some tweaks to improve it and some changes to switch things up a bit. and a hard mode since the original was too easy.

Great run! You mentioned a couple times through out the run that this is running off the Final Fantasy 7 engine. I was thinking that it looked way more like Final Fantasy 8 and looked it up, and it is indeed running off the FF8 engine! Sorry im just a fan of FF8 and will defend its glory till im 6ft deep. I discovered your channel recently during the rona pandemic, and am now a big fan. Watching these insane challenge runs of games that used to scare me as a kid is some really good content, and the history and comparisons between the different versions keep them very interesting. Keep doin what you do Carci!

Actually I found out that at a certain level, 38 or 39 the game breaks and spits you at level 95. This gets you a ludicrous amount of BP. Takes forever to get there though.

I remember looking at the exp tables over on rpgshrine, things really get wonky when you get to that point! I guess they just never really took into account somebody staying in the museum and grinding for that long.

Man this game eluded me for years. Nice to finally see some gameplay of it! I remember seeing this game in a magazine probably around 1997-98 but said it wasn't being released anywhere other than japan so at the time I was hyped for this title but also disappointed that I would never play it! I guess it did release elsewhere in the end huh!

The attack system of this game reminds of Vagrant Story. Well Vagrant was released on 2000, so maybe is the other way around.

I remember playing this in about 99' may have the year wrong and my playstation was chipped and I had the American version and really enjoyed it great game oh yeah as well as a great game called Dino Crisis one and two!!! Great channel too keep it up!!

which train station do you reckon it is, where you fight the centipede? You start in Chinatown, go through sewers across like 5 blocks, come out in a subway station that leads out to a bridge facing north where Aya sees something go toward the Museum of Natural History... Doesn’t look like Grand St. or Bowery to me though.

On one hand, I would absolutely love a true and faithful remake of this game. A very faithful remake which is made with love and care, because this game means too much to me. But on the other hand, I can't imagine how it could possibly be improved on. This game is perfect to me in every way, in my eyes it's still the best game ever made without question. I'm afraid a remake won't stack up to the original, or that they would somehow screw something up. But I am curious about a modern remake, but only if it's made with the utmost attention to the original and a huge amount of care goes into it. If it's possible for sqaure to do that, then they might once again have a golden game on their hands. I'd buy it all over again without thinking twice. God I love this game so much.
