Parasitic fly (Volucella) in yellowjacket wasp nest in the UK

This is a video of a parasitic fly larva that I found while surveying wasp nests for natural enemies in England. These little suckers can move pretty darn quick. I also noticed that the wasps completely ignored these larvae and even walked over the top of them. Chemical camouflage? Seems very likely to me.

Hi Zalgar. Yes, it is definitely worth investigating further! It will be the main subject for the next phase of our biocontrol project in New Zealand.
