It is a bit more complicated than you're making it out to be. Pause, hold A, unpause, re-pause after one or two frames, let go of A, unpause. That said it's still really easy.

Basically if you play as Sonic, use the red gem, then die at the first possible opportunity while holing the button till you respawn, you'll respawn at triple your normal speed. However it only works on the Xbox 360 version. I did a video on it a few months ago actually.

Methods to do the go through walls as sonic and shadow:To do it press the jump button and start at the same time and unpause then you can go through the corner note this that if only works when you face a corner,press the jump button and almost at the same time press start button then unpause,press the pause button then press and hold the jump button then unpause then immediately pause again and unpause again or you can jump and on the frame you touch the ground do a homing attack it works for sonic and shadow.in order to know if you did the pausing method for shadow to go through walls glitch right is when you press pause and shadow's feet is a bit of the ground and you didn't hear the jump sound then you did it right.And for sonic either you can spindash through the corners or you can jump and press the jump button at the frame you touch the ground.

If you use the superspeed glitch in multiplayer, you can cip through any door anywhere in any level just by spin dashing at the corner. XD

You don't have to get the super speed glitch to clip through walls by spindashing through corners simply without or with super speed glitch you just have to spindash through the corner so it can work without the speed glitch if you don't believe me check it out yourself.
