I’ve rode Hatfield McCoy multiple times, my biggest worry would be other riders. On a busy weekend man it can be nuts, they would definitely have to be sandwiched in the middle. Also would definitely have to stick with green and blue trails, and some blue can be a little sketchy.

We totally agree. We were lucky enough to go on a non-busy week and we still have some moments we had to share the trail on a tight section that makes it uncomfortable. We hope this helps other parents really understand what they are getting into if their kids are driving.

@@trailkings How was it passing others in the PRO R. I got the Pro R premium last summer. We rode devils ances and Buffalo Mt this past November. I came froma Pro xp and I didn't have too much trouble. Obviously there are places you don't want to meet someone regardless of the machine.

it wasn't that bad but i've had a machine that was 90in wide before and that was a beast to try to navigate. Overall the pro r is a great machine for us.

This is not a criticism, but just an observation. I know a lot of parents who let their kids ride Offroad and on snowmobiles, and they feel that the child has a good understanding of momentum, line choice, etc. But I think that one thing that doesn't get discussed a lot is this: The kid may be physically large enough to handle the machine, understand directions, etc., but if something goes wrong, do they have the maturity level to make the split second decision to do the right thing? Or will they panic and make a mistake that may lead to catastrophic injury or death? Hatfield McCoy, as you mentioned, is narrow with dropoffs and lots of blind turns. Couple that with the large amount of riders who treat it like a one-way race course, and putting a young driver er out there who may not be mentally mature enough to react quickly, and you've got a problem. As parents, no one knows our childs abilities better than we do, so it's our choice. Just food for thought. Always hood to get the kids outside and interested in the hobby! 👍

Thank you for sharing. I do agree with you and that’s why I gave my response like I did. My kids have years experience and I was still uncomfortable in some areas because of the situation. The trail themselves are not bad at all from our experiences but the circumstances of everything else involved driving down the trail that you mention is what made me uncomfortable. Hopefully this will help someone in their decision. We appreciate you sharing.

@@trailkings You also made a great point about this NOT being the proper trail system for new riders to learn on!

Let kids be kids. Sure we try to protect them but same time you can’t live in a protective bubble.

I truly appreciate your awareness as parents. This is my input as a NOT a parent. I've been to the same trails you are discussing. I've seen speeds upwards of 50 mph. I've seen heavy alcohol use on the trails. My $0.02 Children should be passengers unless at least 16 years old. ( I know, i know... "You don't know, you don't have kids) But I have seen more dangerous OTHER drivers than any double black diamond trail in HM. Feel free to disagree, but my opinion is even a 200 machine, is too small for HM. The easiest GREEN trails, are where the fastest runs are made, thus making it very sketchy.

i agree 100%... especially for kids and families that don't have real experiences driving in that type of environment. The realty of the issue is for us as a family we teach our kids to do dangerous things safely to better prepare them for when they get older. Anyone going high speeds on a trail at us will hit my machine before they hit my kids machine. We stack our machines in an order that prevents an unexperienced driver making a mistake that will hurt our kids. I have always been able to slow down all in coming traffic to a slow speed when they are passing us. Im not saying how we do things is the right way or not. We are just sharing how we do things. We do appreciate you watching the video and sharing your thoughts. Thank you.

My two sons, one is 10, one is 14, both ride new Polaris Sportsman 570 ultimate trail machines. Experienced riders. There is no way I want them on little 90's or 200's without 4 wheel drive, 4 wheel braking, EPS, active decent control, or EBS, driving on an ATV trail with any kind of hills. Not safe in my opinion. Problem is, they are stickered for 16 min. age. Would I get harrassed on the Hatfield and McCoy trail system for this? We don't drink, don't drive fast, always wear a helmet. Wife and I ride 850 ultimate trail machines. Please share constructive thoughts. Thanks everyone!

I wish there were hatfield mccoy trails to the points of interest. We ignored some points of interest based on knowing outlaws may cause problems. Were the RZR 200s able to do the greens? This is a great discussion. We did the southern section last spring with teens on quads and dirt bikes. We did fine. But I thought 200 non 4x4 was risky. But kiddos either way parents. Beats them sitting on the couch on their phones.

The rzr 200's wouldn't have any issues with the green trails in my opinion. We stayed to mostly blue trails throughout the HMT systems and with careful driving by the kids... the Rzr 200 did better than expected.

I absolutely love your videos. But the background music kills me. It's really not needed most of the time, especially when people are talking. The editing is amazing but music that's tastefully inserted into certain scenes would make it better in my opinion. Thanks for the videos!
