As a mother of 2 boys that have, as we call "super powers", one who is 10 with Aspergers/ADHD/ ODD and Adjustment Disorder and the other who is 7 with ADHD, your videos have helped me more than you know to have a better understanding of how they process things differently and I would greatly like to thank you for that. You are amazing and have given me lots of hope for a brighter future for them both.

appreciate your channel brother. youre helping a lot of folks. I survived cancer twice while having half of my face amputated in the process.. a tumor destroyed my jaw and changed everything I once knew.. I decided to start my own channel to inspire others who feel ugly and not good enough for this world..I moved to Barcelona to build a new life. I want to show others that it's all about positivity and energy.. and that with the right mindset, you can overcome any mental or physical hurdle if u just learn to love yourself! positive energy trumps any physical shell! go check me out and subscribe if u want to help me reach my goal of helping others who lack self-love.. it would mean the world to me!!

I would love to see more of these and possible be part of a collaboration with you in the future. I have a few projects coming down the line, but I'm sure we could come up with something cool.

My 11 year old has just got an ASD diagnosis - I have never felt more useless, more clueless or worried. He has been skirting around the diagnosis since very youg so I've always known he is different but the diagnosis hit me like a ton of bricks because I instantly started extrapolating what the rest of his life will be like. Or realising how little I know about what the rest of his life will be like. I guess he's 'high functioning' (I don't even know yet if that is the correct term) but I can't even comprehend how he is dealing with the diagnosis - but I'm consumed by thoughts of all the things I've been doing wrong, have I been making things worse insisting he eats healthy(ish) food, cleans his room, do his homework etc etc etc like his younger brother and sister have to. Just wanted to say thankyou for channels like yours and Kevin - content I can now consume on my own terms and can start to get some breathing room in my head, rather then the little advice from 'official' sources i've managed to assimilate so for.

When Kevin talks about his fears with his son growing up, I just recall -- to not be too personal -- a relative of mine who took care of her disabled son for his entire life. She got help from a school that specialized in disabled adults, but she simply cared for him day after day. She loved him, and felt that he was a very important part of her life. Now I'm sure Andy will be able to contribute to his own livelihood, but in the worst case, these things do happen and people grow and adapt and figure it out and I'm sure you won't be alone.

It’s great to view your earlier work here, and to see you stating your goals for advocacy. This interview is also a great reminder to us parents to keep asking for resources and solutions to help our kids, even after we are told no initially. It’s exhausting at times. I am requesting support from our local regional center as a recently diagnosed parent myself. There is so much paperwork and bureaucracy. Keep on doing your work for the community. It’s appreciated ❤️

Planning far in advance... even as an adult with Aspergers, I still need that. I am so angry right now cause the person who tells me when I have appts told me I have one tomorrow and she is angry with me it seems as she tells me life doesn't give 48 hour warnings, but I need that for how my sleep cycle is, I need more prep time. I am so angry with her right now. I want/need that far planning in advance, but so many people are against it, unaware of how angry it makes me to not have enough time beforehand. Good for Kevin to understand that, thank you Kevin!

Fantastic video with Kevin. Really wish Kevin so much support, love and success with his family. Parenting children with these issues is so heart-rending and difficult. I felt so moved by his experience and Dan's interjection with his views on things was brilliant too, with tips on how to deal with anger, sensory overload, anxiety in Autism etc and how he has learnt to deal with issues as he get older. Loved it. Thank you to you both for posting it. Will subscribe to Kevin's vlog.

Nice video I have faced similar things with the medical world where they don't understand someone like me with Asperger's at all, but I have been blessed to find a very nice GP who refers me to doctors who are so caring and helpful which I am grateful for. I also managed to find a nice hairdresser and dentist who is also caring and understands what I am going through and keeps me calm and they talk quite nicely to me.

Awesome guys! I am coming from both sides : raising my aspie 12 yr old son, AND in realizing his diagnosis also figuring out that I am also aspie. Trust me when I say being an aspie does not exactly make it any easier to raise an aspie! We have lots of similarities but a lot of differences too. Things that work for me don't always work for him. Ps- my son always had to have headphones on to go to a theatre or it would be too much for him. Now he's 12 he can do it without but usually chooses not to go.

Stripes & Camo what's critical is determining what is over stimulation and what is actually "being naughty". To this day (I'm 37) I still have a hard time knowing how I'm feeling and communicating how I feel is even harder, so reaching a communication barrier often happens quickly and then the frustration comes thru and its interpreted as angst or bad behavior. I couldn't even clearly identify anxiety until I was 30. Once I learned how to recognize it, the better I could manage it. Still learning all the things that cause it.

Great videos which are a godsend for a newly diagnosed HFA. Do you have any videos or info on being an autistic/aspergers parent? I've just been diagnosed at 42 and trying to come to grips with what it means for me and my family. I am particularly interested in finding info on how my HFA affects my role as Mum to my 2 very cool little kids. I don't cope well with change or surprises, I'm intolerant of noise, and don't like visitors. I've crafted a life which works OK for me but I'm now realising how limiting some of these things are likely to be for raising happy healthy kids! So far I've found loads about raising autistic kids, but nothing about being an autistic parent. Any ideas?

Omg just what I need... As a parent with autism (asperger) i could definitely use your help. Idk im confused..back when i was in middle school i was diagnosed with asperger...recently i got a new evaluation, which states "mild autism" i noticed in the report i think they used DSM-5 or something cant remember. But i did see that it says I DO NOT have language delay so maybe its aspeger? As irememher you say high functioning autism people have speech delays where as us aspies do not

I have a 16 year old daughter with ASD, she was diagnosed and saw a naturopath at about 10 years old. Not sure whether it was the diagnosis or the naturopath but we went from 3-4 hour long meltdowns each day to 1 a month. For several years things calmed down but we moved to Mexico ( which she loves) but she started to regress. To the point where she is having major meltdowns regularly again and ends up a screaming heap on the floor. She often can't identify what is wrong and can't communicate during a meltdown. She just knows something is wrong leading up and then all hell breaks loose. Any specific ideas of where I can find ways to help her? Actual strategies for avoiding meltdowns and helping her cope with life. She is hyper emotional and feels feelings very deeply. Do you have a link to that sunlamp you were talking about? I am very interested in that :) I think it is so hard to get out of bed in winter when it's dark outside. Does it help you get more energy in winter? :)

People!!!!!!. I saw right now in this video the advertisement of red dead 2: I'm in love with that game. I've played red dead 1 and I was in love. I am glad that I've watched this advert.

Help please!! I've just come to realize my 16 year old son and my 51 year old husband probably do have aspergers. They both tell me " well even if we do, what's an expensive diagnosis going to change?" I ( heather/mother &wife) am Nuro typical and have been pulling my hair out for years. Now I feel Like I have some direction. One question is: why is the official diagnosis important? Two: is it just for my sanity or will it really help the possible aspies in my life!!!

Heather Young I just got my diagnosis at 32 year's old. For me, it was important to get a diagnosis, but I also understand your husband's perspective... Because it really hasn't changed anything. In fact, I think had I known earlier, I may have limited myself in what I could achieve. I work in sales, for crying out loud. I don't think I would have even tried that had I known. However, if you need things to change, understanding where they are coming from, may help you negotiate those changes more effectively. A formal diagnosis might not matter, but the perception change could be invaluable!!!

Its more important for your son to get a diagnosis. Your husband himself doesnt need one and seems to have figured it out. A diagnosis grants me. A 16 year old girl with it. The ability to take tests and more importantly exams in a room alone. So i will not get stressed out by like the big hall. The seriousness. Those things. It has allowed me to actually get more help in school from teacher for free, because of that simple word. Making me like pass. If i am.struggling and i say to my teacher my planning failed. It's not ptoblem and i can hand it in later. Others just get points of or an F. But also teachers knowing thus noticing. When i drift of completely focusing on something else. They'll start to talk.and walk in my direction. Or during work come up to me and ask if i.get it. Cause if i don't ill zone completely out staring into the void infront of me. All the advantages you get are actually kind of small. But they really really add up. And if you'd see it as a disadvantage for say getting employed. You arent obligated to say you have it. Cause it is irrelavent. And they arent allowed to discriminate with it.

Love your channel but Don't care for his...He allows his StepSon to Do what he wants with No Consiquences!! He Gives in and allows him to Not go to school and rewards him with church and elevator visits...He Seriously Needs More Help and Teaching before he can Have a Channel About Autism!!! Just My Opinion but I Know I'm Not Alone!!!
