Well technically cancelling it would only hurt the people that worked had to actually compete in them. Instead, they just need to cancel all this inclusivity bullsh*t, and make sure that the host countries opening ceremonies adhere to a certain level of class and civility. Even the Canadian opening ceremonies (or closing I can't remember) when it was last in Canada had some cringey parts. There was a part where William Shatner got up to speak, and made a joke about how being Canadian means you get to write your name in the snow, and then showed a picture of someone peeing in the snow, in the bigscreen in the stadium. As a Canadian, that was embarrassing to see, when there was so many other things they could've said.
