I don't know the story behind this song but this made me think of how it feels recovering from depression. Warmth and life returning to me after being frozen for so long. The darkness still being there but the warmth has returned to me and now I can face that darkness, even walk through it but it can't hurt me anymore. ❤
@alexterieur8813

i interpret lyrics in a similar fashion. I think it’s about being scared of good things happening in your life after a very hard period of your life. Probably scared that the warmth will leave her again and leave her feeling freezing again, hence hurting her. The hope in the video comes from the fiery stage being the representation of her fully embracing that warmth and basking in it. Moral of the story: enjoy light and warmth while it’s there, you never know for how long it will be there and how long it will take for it to be returning after it leaves !

I thought of trauma too specifically with the "it's still there." People who finally start to heal from trauma still have it inside them but it becomes less overwhelming and less powerful in their lives. As someone with bipolar 2, I feel like this relates to the spell of hypomania as well where you hope to god you don't fall into a deep depression afterward "it can't know the warmth's returning." All around it's an amazing song that fits so many situations and can be an anthem for anyone struggling and finally finding some sort of comfort.

It's thawing And melting the ice White goats are grazing on the mountainside It's golden Blinded by the sight Of the water Moving in the last of the light I used to think that I Was running from the night But I've been following behind The light, all this time It can't hurt me It's still there but it can't now the warmth's returning The warmth is coming back and now, no it can't hurt me It's still there but it can't now the warmth's returning Moving slowly, tracking laughter through the trees The sound of the safety that's evaded me The calling of the birds The warmth returns To my extremities, long dead from freezer burn Moving softly on my feet I thought it ran from me But the beckoning sunbeams Are nearly in reach Nearly in reach It can't hurt me It's still there but it can't now the warmth's returning The warmth is coming back and now, no it can't hurt me It's still there but it can't now the warmth's returning It can't hurt me It's still there but it can't now the warmth's returning The warmth is coming back and now, no it can't hurt me It's still there but it can't now the warmth's returning In the clearing I reached it With hands out like a child Lifting up to eat it I ate up all the light And it shone through my teeth And I tasted sunbeams Emanating from me From me, from me In the clearing I reached it With hands out like a child Lifting up to eat it I ate up all the light And it shone through my teeth And I tasted sunbeams Emanating from me From me, from me It can't hurt me It's still there but it can't now the warmth's returning The warmth is coming back and now, no it can't hurt me It's still there but it can't now the warmth's returning It can't hurt me It's still there but it can't now the warmth's returning The warmth is coming back and now, no it can't hurt me It's still there but it can't now the warmth's returning

I'm sure it's not the intended message of the song, but my good god... did I just feel like I just listened to my own, inner voice singing. I never found a song that hit home as much as this one did. This is what I felt like when I first realized I was winning my battle against PTSD. It wasn't a sudden, kneejerk realization that rolled in like a victory march after a war with drums and trumpets, but much more like this. Gentler, slower, way more obscure, and accompanied by a quiet echo of the doubts that never shut up. Like a cool breeze in a summer night. You notice it, but just enough to acknowledge it's there. That was also the first time I truly, consciously realized just how utterly exhausted I was. I knew I was about to come out on the other side, but I didn't have the energy to celebrate. I was so numb from everything. Yet that sliver of hope was there now. Realizing I had lost some of my triggers, my panic attacks not being as crippling anymore. Sleep slowly came easier. Food was enjoyable again and not just a necessity to keep breathing. Years later now and I've pretty much completely stabilized and settled into a new life I love with all my heart. I'm not a fool though. I know the monster under the bed isn't asleep. But it's behaving at least, and I learned I'm the one who can make it behave. In the end that's all I really need. "It's still there, but it can't hurt me." Indeed. Thank you, Paris.

It’s true that the monster never really leaves but you get control back. You learn that you survive every panic attack that it always stops at some point and at least for me, that has given me so much strength. Recovery doesn’t mean the fear and pain disappears but that you grow stronger than it I truly wish you all the best on your way❤

@@fridayweekend7775 Exactly. I remember when my therapist was frank with me back then when I asked her if it'll ever go away. She told me no, it won't. Apparently, PTSD is not something that will ever fully go away. Even if you overcome it to the point where it goes completely dormant, it can come back at any time. The key isn't to try and beat it into a corner with all you have, but let it do what it does and learn its moves. That worked for me. That's how I'm winning. By turning the fight into a dance, and then leading the dance.

The gentleness of Paris' voice seems passive and in submission to the threat (the "it" referred to in the chorus), yet her words are powerful and completely rejecting the possibility of being overcome by it; it makes me think of someone caught in an oppressive situation that can't get out physically, but that still has the mental resilience to reject being completely consumed

Made me cry, because - to me - the refrain symbolises letting go/ healing old and deep trauma. "It can't hurt me, it's still there, but it can't hurt me - the warmth is returning" Like a hymn, a prayer, a war cry. Encouraging, empowering and absolutely "awakening" something inside oneself, similar to what Labour and The Fruits makes one feel. Thank you for this Paris, you did again - an absolute masterpiece ❤.

Someone mentioned an African Proveb: "a child that doesn't receive warmth from its village will find warmth in its flames." I thought it is very powerful. Then saw that there can also be beauty in this, because this same child could become the flame itself and warm up and light up the entire village if they heal and mature into their fullest Self. ♡ May we all become our Fullest Selves.

God could y'all imagine the vibes of a Paris Palmoa and Florence and the Machine collaboration? Their voices together would be spellbinding and the witchy mood in the music and video(s).... I need it!

I live in the North, in the cold dark winter lands, and I feel this every spring, just before the strawberries come in… it does feel like eating up the sunlight and finally being warm. 🥹

THIS is the voice to tune to. There IS a divine masculine to counterpoint the divine feminine. This is where the warmth is.

I relate to your music so well, as do so many other people. This is another hit in a long line of hits from you. They just keep coming. Keep up the good work and retain your originality.
