After wasting money on the Amazon one, I bought the Park Tool one at my LBS. It works great.

Thanks very much - I have to remove a damaged crank arm due to a pedal that I installed incorrectly (cross-threaded) and wasn’t sure how to proceed. Gotta have the right tools 😉

Great video, showing the torque you had to put on it assured me I needed to match the effort and it came off my 2018 Raleigh Back Track single gear bike. Also, had to buy some professional tools. Lol

Nice, exactly the situation I'm in and the solution that I need. edit- *NO, SCRATCH THAT! SCRATCH THAT COMPLETELY!!!* I bought a universal crank puller and I was not aware that there are three different crank attachment types - Square taper, octalink and Isis. I had a square taper Shimano crank, but I kept the Octalink/Isis attachment on the tool because I was unaware it could be removed and, in my case, MUST BE REMOVED!!! After following your instructions, *I STRIPPED ALL THE THREAD OFF THE CRANK!!* Now this crank is stuck there for eternity! It's a hire e-bike and it needs the crank removed to replace the pedal assist sensor!

Thanks for this. I had to bust out the ratchet to get the needed torque

Also called a 'crank extractor' (that's a nice adjustable wrench, btw)

I was trying to replace the PAS sensor on my e-bike this week and was looking at another $40 minimum charge at a local bike repair shop (labor only, already had the replacement sensor) and found this same Park tool online. Found a local place that had one on the shelf ready to go, so I would not have to wait a few more days waiting for Amazon to ship it to me. I was a little confused but found a very insightful how-to on Park Tools channel here on YT which was VERY helpful. At first I was afraid I was bending or stripping something as it was turning, but wasn’t visible backing out. Turns out I was doing it correctly and to just power through. It came out and went back on perfectly. Then I lolled when I saw your adjustable wrench. I bought the same exact one from Walmart a few days earlier since I didn’t trust my ancient, wobbly, soft metal adjustable wrenches. I’ll probably never have to use this Park tool ever again and that’s ok but knowing I CAN is a good feeling. Great video!

What’s the difference between that crank puller CWP-7 and the CCP-22 that has a handle?
@sdbigge4 ай бұрын
The CWP-7 is compatible with a wider variety of bottom brackets than the CCP-22, such as the shimano octalink.

I had a horrible experience with this tool. My crank set seemed to have been installed dry. Not only did this tool strip my crank arm threads, but its own threads were stripped in the process as well! Which I can't understand. Isn't this tool supposed to be made of steel and the crank aram aluminum? Any way, I had to use a bearing/pully puller to get both crank arms off. I'm gonna try another brand of this type of tool next time.

Will this allow me to change my bearings?
@samskisamsonof6 ай бұрын
No, it will only get the crankset off. But you will have to take the cranset out before getting access to the bottom bracket.
