I have a Vector and an Occam's that I really like. I especially like the control I get with the flat handle on the Occam's. I like the agility of the Vector head.

Awesome video, John! That's a great comparison. I've found the Shield to vary quite a bit in blade feel based on which angle you use. It's almost like having an adjustable GEM. It's funny, but I can't really do these comparisons based on how my face feels. My stubble comes in slightly thicker on one side. I've tried switching hands and switching which side I start with, etc. I've just come to the conclusion that I'm right bearded. Both sides usually end up equal, but the right side puts up more of a fight than the left. I'm looking forward to your Lamba & Konsul videos. Those ought to be really smooth.

@leenunes007 it definitely smooths out the closer to face you bring the cap. I find it very easy to work with. Definitely my top 3 favorite “gems” I’m very curious about the premium razors and how they will perform. Holding them and just looking them over you can definitely tell the attention to detail and quality overall is a cut above.

Really interesting comparison John. Sounds like they’re both great. I’m interested in trying a GEM razor - especially the Shield one as I like the weight of aluminium razors. I couldn’t see the link to Shield though.

@petekadenz9465 I apologize i forgot to put shield razors in my info. I fixed it so the link is there now. Also consider you can get a vintage Gem for under $20 while you wait for the shield one to come 🤣🤣

hello john. i've never shaved with gem or injector blades. i'm assuming the geometry of the cutting edge of those blades has to be different (due to their thickness), maybe it's a stupid question but are the nicks/cuts from those blades feel more severe relative to standard de blade? btw i'm not asking because of your cut from yaqi tachi from last time

@davidkuinov knock on wood but I’ve never gotten nicks or cuts from a gem. The one the other day was the 1st in ages with the yaqi 🤣. U have a valid question. I would speculate the cut wouldn’t be any worse than a DE razor with similar gap & blade exposure. If you are curious but don’t want to invest too much a vintage Gem or schick are $15-$20 to your door off eBay. Very cheap & fun to try out. If u hate it you can usually break even selling them. Or let a friend try them.
