3:49 Oh my God, I would've walked straight into that electric fence. 😬 I don't know if it's strictly a 'journey' - more getting lost in the woods - but I love, love, love The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon by Stephen King. And all of the Gary Paulsen books about being lost in the wilderness. And Dark Summer by Ali Sparkes, which is a kids' book but it's about a boy who gets lost in the Wookey Hole caves and it's amazing. 👍 I think I just really like books about people getting lost. 🤣

I recently enjoyed Simon Reeve's book "Step by step" - he's a modern day explorer - has done trips where he follow the equator or tropic lines - came across as a great storyteller and good guy.

I cant stand the rain or hailstones when out cycling cos my cycling glasses fog up & I cant see the potholes! 😄 The books that I'd recommend are 'Down & Out in Paris & London' by George Orwell. George Orwell's vivid memoir of his time living among the desperately poor & destitute in Paris & London. A very moving journey of the underworld of society. Favourite journey book: A Time of Gifts by Patrick Leigh Fermor. Brilliant travel memoir of his walk from Holland to Constantinople in the 1930s. Possibly my favourite book of all time.

Dude read Soldier I. Its an autobiography from one of the top SAS. Loads of journeys in it. It is also a brilliant read. Made me want to join the army after reading it... luckily for me my broken back won't let me join. Fun fact- squirrels forget about 80% of their stashes. So essentially squirrels plant trees.

I would recommend Homer's Odyssey and Virgil's Aeneid. Read both as a teenager and I still think about them often. Epic journeys in both books.

'Roadside Picnic' by the Strugatsky brothers is one of my favourite 'journey' books. The bulk of the (short) novel is leading up to/planning the journey. It's about hazardous alien visitation sites and stuff, so maybe a bit nerdy for a jock like yourself.

I just read "Free Country: A Penniless Adventure the Length of Britain" about a couple of guys that try cycling from Lands End to John O Groats. They start off in a pair of pants and have to rely on the kindness of strangers to get them to their destination. Well written and pretty funny too!

If no one has already mentioned it, The Long Walk by Steven King under the pseudonym Richard Bachman. Unsurprisingly it's a harrowing nightmare of a book, which is exactly what you want from that author. I'll also suggest Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, which is a tale about a journey, while also being about a book specifically used for journeys.

I was actually camping as a scout with my scout friends and scout leaders when the prisoners broke out fairly near by at parkhurst and we heard they were stealing food from campsites and we heard something in our camp at night and we had to wake up and see who it was and the only thing I had to defend myself was a badminton racket but it was probably just a fox

Papillon by Henri Charriere is my fave journey book although it's about escaping from prison so ties in with your info about Parkhurst. Do Decathlon do Mosipants as I have been bitten quite badly in the nether regions before and I find that the mosquito repellent tends to sting a bit 'down there'? Nice yellow jacket, though it did clash with your red 'bus rush' face 😂

We drove 2 hours to Oban last Christmas for our festive shop at Aldi (!!??) Cool Dudes, I am sad to report that a Red Squirrel committed hari kari and ran in front of our car. I don't really have any favourite books about a journey, although I have read the Hobbit, I enjoyed Stephen King's short story The Body and The Sirens of Titan by Kurt Vonnegut is sort of about a journey but it is a very good book. Those annoying dogs sounded like my annoying dog.

Sirens of Titan is an amazing book. The first Vonnegut I read. Stephen King did a brilliant short story as Richard Bachman called 'The Long Walk'. I often thing about it. It is sort of a grisly competition. I won't spoil it for you, but definitely worth a read.

I think you could start a separate channel for videos of bus journeys. For reasons of variety I'll suggest some non-fiction travel/journey books. The Right Stuff by Tom Wolfe about the space travel pioneers and the Mercury 7. A Man On The Moon by Andrew Chaikin about the Apollo missions. Are You Dave Gorman by Dave Gorman and Danny Wallace.
