Thank you as my own personal finland view handbrakes does get stuck just if not use it in changing weather (summer to winter). Example grandmom always had problems with handbreaks as she rarely uses it.. Mom too with her car but after she started using it no more annual handbrake problems (with older cars) :)
@RobertDIY6 жыл бұрын
What kind of car? These P80 Volvo's have a history of the cable breaking and locking up the wheels.
@XantheFIN6 жыл бұрын
Daewoo, Seat... no matter of car when old at least. Unused brakes gets rusty and locks up so its been here that better use them if want keep them happy no matter of weather (I don't mean going every turn with handbrake - just normal usage.. to add to this manual cars is the most used gearbox type over here so no parking locks with gearbox.. So that is too another difference why here more used to use handbrake/parking brake with gearbox selected 1st gear).

+XantheFIN that would be great if the system had not been neglected for 20 years, but hey, go ahead and break it then fix it.

Do you know how to remove the headlight assembly? I hit a cement cone (the ones that they use in parking lots for signs and pushed in my headlights on the driver side slightly. It’s a 1985 Volvo 740 I’m guessing there’s like a L bracket that hold the headlight assembly in place that I just need to wrap a tow strap around it and use a winch to straighten it out. Any help or advice is much appreciated! It’s got the independent 4 headlights for brights and low beams

Hey Robert, I'm having a problem where the brake doesn't fully release when you release te handbrake. The wheel rubs really badly when going forwards, only after having rolled backwards only the smallest amount, it comes loose. Any idea what might be the cause?
@RobertDIY3 жыл бұрын
😂😂😂 What have you checked?
@sofiecornelissen31943 жыл бұрын
@@RobertDIY i've checked the shoe adjustment if that might be too tight, not the case. I've checked the drum in the rotor and sanded it, also fine and i checked the little clamps that hold the shoes in place. I did find out that the entire assembly shifts as if set clamps aren't tight enough even though they're thight up against the shoes.

You definitely want that power at your disposal when it's needed most...like entering a highway & trying to merge. Volvo's 'econ' mode upshifts way too early for my tastes. Completely agree w/Mr Robert!!

The reason I'm watching your video (as I always do when something goes wrong with my 850) is that I pulled out of my driveway and the left rear wheel suddenly locked up! After some thought, I decided some part of the emergency brake came loose and locked up the hub. I haven't had a chance to check that theory out, but I'm fairly sure I'm going to find a broken off hinge or adjusting bolt to be the culprit when I open it open. I hope it's that simple.
