In this video I replaced one of the parking brake cables on my 1995 Volvo 850. One of my cables was actually broken in two and one side would not hold the car. This process is likely the same for the P80 Volvo's from 1993 through 1998. Not sure if the AWD vehicles are the same but they probably are.

Great video! However, I still have a problem with my parking brake which I can't figure out. The handle in the car is released, the small adjusting-thing above the ABS-sensor is at it smallest but still I can barely get the brakediscs back on and when they're on, the barely are being able to rotate...

Shoes may be defective. I've mentioned that on several videos.

Hello Robert, A little off topic. My brake lights aren't working. All other lights function perfectly. I replaced the blown fuse, pumped the brakes and the new one fuse failed. Suggestions? Or is it a dead short that needs to be tracked down? Thank you

@@RobertDIY Thank you. Not in a position to work on it myself. I'm sure I'll pay for a nice vacation for someone after they're done fixing it. I am surprised that Volvo had all 3 lights on the same circuit. I would have bet the third, high mounted light would have been on a separate circuit. Thanks for all your help.

Your videos are very good! In the radio mechanic video, what light bulbs did you use? I would need 6pcs. unfortunately the Volvo 850 doesn't light me either

The use a hydraulic valve to activate the rear disk brakes. Yes, harder to work on if they start sticking or malfunction. You need the manufacturer scan tool to reset them.

can you think of a way to exercise or lube the inside of the hand brake cable to keep the rust from forming???

No sir. Lack of use is likely the real reason they seize

Hey Robert, currently my parking brake does not work at all. Should I repair this before I try using ramps to change fluids? Is it safe to ramp the car and chock the back wheels without a parking brake? Or is that asking for trouble?

Should be fine. I do it ALL THE TIME.

Hey, I got a question. Does it matter in which direction the adjuster goes? It can be installed either way, with the toothed wheel sitting left or right from the ABS sensor. And does it have to be the same direction on both sides of the car?
