Enjoyed these videos. Learned a lot. Was nice seeing someone dropping the rear beam and the steering column nightmare. It’s next on the list for my 16v. If you still have trouble with your cis system there are aftermarket fuel solutions that will save you a lot of headache and clean up the engine bay quite a bit. If you don’t mind it not being stock.

It's not just the desert heat- these always crack, even here in the UK, but it's not as severe, my 1984 car had several small carcks.. I believe there were a good few warranty claims in the day.

All your videos have been so helpful !! The dash seems to be a common problem in them

Getting this far took a lot of patience. I took breaks every couple of hours before frustration kicks in. Hopefully the final product turns out good. Appreciate your support.

That is a helluva project.

I’m caught up. This has been a lot of fun to watch. As someone who has a fear of both car repair and tools, it’s been fun to learn how a car goes together.

I appreciate it -its definitely been a learning experience for me. There are a couple of key mechanical assembly issues to be solved, then its a details game. I'm getting closer.

Always entertaining, look forward to part 2. This is a common problem on most, if not all Sciroccos. I have a couple on mine, but then I live in the UK, so lucky to have 2 weeks of hot sun in the whole year!

Your channel is really helpful. It's just unfortunate that I only discovered it a few months ago. I could have used some of your videos for some problems that almost drove me crazy 😂. I am also currently restoring a 91 scirocco as my first car. Everything you have done so far looks really solid, greetings from Germany. 🇩🇪

Hope it helps. What would you do for the final steps? Spray texture and paint or flocking?

I've got couple early Audi's one is a 1983 ur quattro, and one is 1984 B2 quattro, early B2 cars were known for poor dash quality materials wise sun can really do some damage there, on the 1984 I sanded the highs down at the cracks, then took the dash to a LineX spray on truck bed liner place, told them I would give them $100.00 to spray it with their truck bed liner, the guy said he would do it for $225.00 so I told him no deal as I was going to go the route similar to you then flock the dash, but then his co-worker said it would take him 10min to do it so they agreed to $100.00 deal. The guy who actual did the job said he would feather the texture down so it would lay flatter too which I gave him the thumbs up. It's black bead liner by default colors can be added, but you can dye it also with spray dye which I found some shade of brown at Home Depot for less than $10.00, so there you have it $110.00 dash crack fix. To date the dash has survived with only a couple small cracks near he vent holes near the windshield base, suppose I could V those out, and have them shoot the dash in those spots again, but it's so small it's not even noticeable.

Looking forward to seeing how this turns out D. Those were some major cracks... Great editing as usual, love the sense of humour injected! You can buy the vynal material to match the original, but how easy or not that would be to cover such a complex shape.... Meh 🤨🤔 👍🇬🇧

Hey Russ - yeah, pretty knarly cracks to be sure. I'm leaning on texture and paint vs flocking at the moment. Still have not made up my mind. Thoughts?

Not a fan of flocking... like your idea better@@ParksandRecYT

You can get rid of alot of that wavyness by using a long block sanding by hand. And doing one large coat of filler across the top and not single repair areas.
