Boa noite... Adoro as suas reparações e, tiro grandes ajudas para reparar algumas das minhas coisas também. Relativamente a estas baterias, se comprar novas e, para evitar problemas... O que devo fazer? Só eliminar ( retirar ) o módulo bluetooth? Obrigado. Cumprimentos e, boas festas.

I think that Parkside (Grizzly tools) will gain insight into the use of their tools (know your customer) through this "smart" addition (Phone home smart charger). Respect for Ercan for the way of making film, the message comes across clearly :-) Kudos to the investigative journalism ***** We all benefit from this in the end.

Good morning. Is it preferable on a new battery to disconnect the BT to avoid breakdowns? I used a scalpel to desolder only the 3v terminal of the BT module, I placed a plastic between the terminal and the PCB, the BT no longer works.... To reconnect it I just have to remove the piece of plastic and put a soldering point ps: i own an potential battery with BT fail

I also have an issue with my battery and in about to hammer it down, theres just i cell Bat- and Bat1 that is unbalanced from the other cells, the bms doesn't balance that cell in particular and keeps it 0.40v below the others, could this be caused by the Bluetooth module?
@ErCanEverything8 ай бұрын
This is not from the bluetooth, try to balance them using CC/CV power supply and after a while the voltage lags behind the others, so these cells are damaged or check for signs of wetness on the board.

If it is of any use. I had a similar problem with my 4Ah and after 1 year I found the solution. The bms is trying to balance that always low voltage cell and it is discharging it. The only fix for that is to disconnect the balancing transistor for that cell from the IC. I did that after trial and error and removing one resistor.

Have you discovered the behavior of the battery after removal of the BT module without disconnection of the whole BMS? Does it remember the last setup of the battery shut off parameters? I am considering to remove BT modules from new batteries. It would be fine if it remembered the ECO preset, which I prefer for 4 Ah battery (for maximum performance I use 8 Ah batteries).

Settings are stored in the MCU not in the BT module. I tried lock my battery with PIN code and than I removed BT module. The battery was still locked and was not working in my drill. I soldered the BT module back, removed the PIN code and the battery works fine. Some comments says that the BT module is not the problem, but the 3.3V regulator is.
@Ovi_B7 ай бұрын
I have another question, do you have any clue which might be the cause of bt module failing? This problem seems to be systematic as long as so many people have it. For example I suspect that is related to bt module firmware update. I have two batteries and tried to make bt firmware update. For one it worked for thew other it didn't (and have the problem described in your videos, 3V3 and that resistor gone, overheating, etc).
@krasigichevАй бұрын
Most likely, the linear regulator is not specified for the maximum voltage - at some point it fails because running out of spec, and lets higher voltage to go on the output (more that 3.3V). This puts pressure on the poor BT module that was specified to handle 3.3V only. The BT dies and starts consuming higher that expected current (so, the 100mA that ErCan measured). Those 100mA over 20Ohms are too much for 0805 or 0603 resistor and it fails too. If you have an old battery that still works, open it and do some "maintenance" - replace the regulator with one from reputable supplier, and make sure it handles at least 30V. For example, MIC5233-3.3YS from Micrel, ups, Microchip now. But be sure that it is a legit one - Farnell, Mouser, Digikey, TME are good choices to buy it from.

0.3V * 0.016A = 0.0048 W. that's less than 0.1W of standard 0603 resistor. I think the BT module failed first and that's what burned the resistor. anyway, BT battery in this case is a stupid idea. it doesn't add any value. 👍
@krasigichevАй бұрын
Nope, most likely the regulator dies from overvoltage on the input and raises the 3.3V rail higher.

I worked without removing the BMS to show you a quick example, but you must remove the BMS to work safely. Otherwise, the consequences may be severe! This is the first part: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJeag2aumrZpnsUsi=rayba_PenxdOjM63

Without a load, the regulator will start oscillating, and the over voltage will kill the μP. If you remove the BT module, you need to add a resistor to simulate the load. Possibly, add a 0.1 μF capacitor between the IN and GND of the regulator. These regulators are a clone of the 78L3V3 from the '70s, no-one updated the masks. They oscillate without a load, or if there is any inductance between the power source and the IN terminal.
