We went to Amber Cove on my 2nd cruise on the Sunshine out of Port Canaveral, and we got off the ship and did one of the cheap, local tour guides, a tour of Puerto Plata and he lied to us saying it would be about 2 1/2 hour tour but it turned out to be a very boring 5-hour tour. We didn't feel comfortable in Puerto Plata. So, I for sure recommend that you either do a ship excursion or just do the shops/pool/slides.

We’ve been to Costa Maya twice, once was our very first cruise way back before we started vlogging, but then we did vlog the port on our second visit. Any experience on being the second cruise ship pulling into Amber Cove or Grand Turk when the other ship comes in long before your ship does? Problems finding chairs, umbrellas, etc. We have that scenario on this trip.
@parodeejay5 жыл бұрын
Ah, we were there alone in port the first time when we explored the pool and all... but we were the second ship that ever got to visit the port after it opened. Yeah, I imagine if you get two ships in there, and you're the second, the lounger selection may not be that great. There are a ton of chairs, but hopefully they don't put two large ships in there!!

Do the fees (food, drinks, rentals) use cash or can you use your cruise ID card since it’s a carnival port?

Everything in Amber Cove is cash or credit card only. We didn't find anywhere that would take the ship card. That's usually reserved for their actual private islands like Half Moon and Princess Cays.

Do you remember if any of the stores had cigars ?
@parodeejay4 жыл бұрын
Every Dufry duty-free shop we’ve seen at a port will have cigars, yes. That’s the one you have to walk through to enter the port. And sometimes they even have an entire separate cigar shop. I don’t remember seeing a separate shop, but I know the main duty-free shop had some.
