I cried watching this - I have all of these symptoms. If someone had pointed this out to me in childhood I feel that so many of my issues could have been corrected.

Oh no! Sorry you cried. Are you being treated currently? It’s never too late!
@CoveMacDonald2 жыл бұрын
@@theTMJdoc I’m not currently! I only started to investigate a few days ago, after my boyfriend pointed out to me that I breathe through my mouth when I sleep. I knew my septum was deviated, and dentists had previously pointed out to me that my palette was narrow, but I never made the connection with my forward head posture (which gets worse by the day) AND tmj problems. After watching your video I plan to call my doctor and try to get a recommendation

@@theTMJdoc Hello I have a question: I have a dozen allergies and when I was young I breathed through my mouth because of very frequent nasal obstuction. Since then I have corrected the placement of my tongue and now I breathe mostly through my nose. Today I am 21 years old and I have finished my growth. Do you think that in the future, the bones of my jaw should widen and the bump on my nose should disappear or is it too late?

I must have slept through occlusion classes in dental school. Your videos are worthy of a terrific CE and would be helpful to those patients with TMJD. Glad I found you.

In my opinion this sort of stuff should be 101 and fundamental to explain why we have the problems we have as someone with some tmj problems im scared of the people who might treat me since they probably know less then me in several ways

@@theTMJdoc One question i have is, do you think that one can live a full life of painless tmj that just includes one side clicking when opening as long as you keep good posture, dont chew hard foods, have good posture etc
@theTMJdoc2 жыл бұрын
@@dwoh4345 yes it can definitely stay that way. or it can progress to the jaw locking closed. It’s impossible to say which way it will go.

Just found your channel, i had no idea there were videos like this on youtube. Im a 28 year old woman who has been diagnosed with this for nearly 10 years, its gotten worse over time. But watching your video has connected some of the dots to my childhood, things that could have been red flags to this happening. But since ive been diagnosed its been a long fight to get someone in the UK to take me seriously with it. I have botox injections twice a year but they don't last for long, maybe 2 months each time and I'm only allowed it twice a year as my dr says ill get immune to it. I hate to admit it but my mental health is really struggling at the moment dealing with the daily chronic pain from it. ive been on basically a liquid diet for the last 5 or so years. I appreciate you taking the time to explain things as thoroughly as you do, it helps bevause I don't always know the right words to use to explain it to a doctor. Thankyou, so much ♡ Edit: i had my wisdom teeth removed around 8 years ago and have had arthroscopic (i think thats how its spelled?) Surgery and flushing of the jaw joints around 4 years ago. Looking through your other videos, my jaw has been 'locked closed' for at least the last 5 years. I can never get more than a finger into my mouth do to restrictions and pain.

Thank you again for another great video! Connecting all the dots! Fantastic! I just had to erase my previous comment as I had commented that I had just read a great book by Nester called Breath and low and behold you bring it up at the end of this video! Haha- apologies! I found the book fascinating and love how he refers to all those who study and work with the jaw, neck, nose and lungs as “Pulminots.” Haha- great stuff! Referring to the concept Nester brings up in the book of taping the mouth at night to “inspire” nose breathing; do you have any thoughts on this? Thank you again!

Is there a way to contact your office or to find a dr in MA? I had an underbite before hs and underwent jaw surgery for it. I’m 37 now and after a lifetime of playing sports and lifting weights I’m running into all sorts of issues that I think correlates to this topic and the surgery. I just found your channel. I can’t even get the whole tongue to touch the top of the mouth lol. I have some work do! Thank you for posting this and please let me know how I can at least contact your office.

@riteshsharma2074 Жыл бұрын
When I try nose breathing, my tongue is neither at top nor at bottom of mouth. It's sticking somewhere in between. Is that correct?
@theTMJdoc Жыл бұрын
no, that's not correct. It should be up against the roof of the mouth with a light suction.
