That's actually a very nice design. We are currently building 16 similar structures for people to live in for free when they have someone in the hospital. Ours are a little smaller than yours, being 14x24. Ours even has the half wall as yours does. Very, very well done! The only thing I'd change about yours would be to add some type of awning to cover the front door, to keep you out of the weather as you enter the house. And I'd likely get rid of the steps in front so it was wheelchair accessible.

Go get a construction loan.
@williamrichards7081 Жыл бұрын
Check with you local building dept and see if you can put a trailer on the lot while you build the house. If you can, get a used travel trailer for a couple thousand and put it there. You'll need water and power temporary hookups and sewer or septic as needed.These can often be had through special programs through the county at reduced interest rates (around here it's about 1 percent loan for septic and water installation). Once you have the trailer on the place, live in it and build the house. Get a construction loan or do it out of pocket a little at a time (you will be saving the amount of rent so use that money). When you are all done and signed off , either sell the trailer and live there or move the trailer to a different lot and do it again or sell the trailer and live there while you build the next place. As you get better and faster at doing this you can replace your job and make more doing this than most jobs would pay. Plus the bonus, no boss to please, no alarms in the morning to get up and go to work. You can easily make $60K a year doing just 2 places per year.
@FloatingThroughTheRealm Жыл бұрын
@@williamrichards7081 it’s ironic you suggest that because that was my exact plan… thanks for taking the time and thanks for caring! I did not know I could do a loan for well and septic though!
@williamrichards7081 Жыл бұрын
@@FloatingThroughTheRealm Many smaller towns and rural areas have loans like this available.Check for these and others with your local building department as well as banks and other lenders. If you want to do several of these, check with city and county for properties they may own from back property tax . When people don't pay the property tax, the lots are auctioned off but not all lots sell at the auction and the city or county gets them. You can get fantastic deals on these, like just a few hundred dollars for a lot. Then build on them and make even more.

You did such a good job! The home is so nice, and I really enjoyed the way you did your video, by walking though it quickly many times while you talked - along with full coverage up and down - side to side. It was a super idea to show the home in the dark as well because there was nothing to detract from the build. The way you described the process - along with the side wall 2x6s, the R factor of the insulation, the pitch of the roof, and the base foundation details was excellent! Slow, but not to slow - and, methodical - just right! So informative, and extremely helpful for anyone wanting to build a pole barn type home. You did something that no one else has ever done that was so so smart - and, that was backing the washer/dryer unit up to the utility room and feeding the line through - genius! Also, for $18,000 - wow! So much joy for so many people who have needed a place to park for awhile! You are a super example of a soul that shares and thinks of others - ahhh...so refreshing!!

I LOVE everything about this build -- including your willingness to do this for your mother in law (I'm sure she was grateful despite not getting to live in it after all.) and also you and your wife helping others who needed a place to stay. Very kind -- AND, you certainly are talented being able to do this! Did you also do the electrical wiring yourself? I don't know where you are located but I sure wish you lived local to me OR, had a business because these would sell like crazy!! My mom is in her early 80's and a cancer and heart attack survivor. Her marriage is ending and she has been trying to find a place closer to me. Rents are outrageous for her income and I am disabled and in a 1 bedroom subsidized unit. Mom thought of a tiny house but many are so tiny she says she'd feel claustrophobic AND, many have a loft you have to climb a ladder to. Not safe for her and I can't climb into a loft either. Anyway, excellent job, best I've ever seen!

I am getting ready to build a similar size home and was having issues with my layout. I love this, is there any chance you might have a drawing with room measurements? That would be super helpful. I too am a first time home builder, hopefully building my wife and mines retirement home.

Fantastic. Is in on septic?
@jeepmanking3577 Жыл бұрын
Yes it is on septic, I tapped onto our homes septic feed line just before the septic tank, the cottage was built uphill from the septic tank so septic from cottage would drain too septic tank. Thank for watching and great question.

The insurmountable things a person will do when motivated by pure love is beautiful and the world needs more of it. I want to do this for my partner and I, and then my mother and her boyfriend to take care of each other as we age and to have a easier travel between houses for bonding and what not. Thank you so much for the information and the inspiration. I pray to God that I’m able to do this in time for all of us. 🏡

Wow. Blessings to you, man. This is absolutely wonderful. Wish there were more units like this being built as a starter home for the young or permanent housing for low-income couples or the elderly. This idea would certainly help with the housing crisis. Heck, I just might go out and try to buy a lot to do something like this. Fantastic idea. This is much, much better than the idea of a "tiny house" on wheels.

What a FANTASTIC design. Absolutely perfect for a Single person or a couple. As someone who has built and designed from scratch many living domiciles in-the-day, the clean, fresh, maintenance free and very attractive design grabs-the-eye. I was particularly taken with the service entrance for the back of the washer dryer. That's Intelligent Design ! The unit still looks Brand New even with multiple tenants over a several year period. The only very minor item that might be worth any consideration would be to re-position the Fridge door handles on the opposite side thus making more efficient access from the kitchen sink and counter area. Very well done. Sorry to hear of your Mother-in-Laws passing. She would have loved the unit and the effort you put in to its construction on her behalf. The attention to detail shows. Thank You for sharing. Greetings from Ontario, Canada.

Running on one engine did it help on fuel
@jeepmanking35772 жыл бұрын
@@lillianmarion2939 as long as you keep your speed to a minimum, just slow cruising around 5-6 mph yes it will conserve gas, above that speed it won’t. I didn’t measure exactly the fuel difference but plan to this summer.

You are rich in a way that goes beyond how much money one could ever have. Not a bad layout either. Something about that size would fit my single lifestyle. A simplistic humble look, with necessity as it's theme.

Great job! I bought a storage cabin a few years back (12x32) and did the same thing. The research took about as long as the build process. Learned a lot, and am planning on doing something similar to what you have there.

That’s neat, so many people don’t even try because they are either afraid or don’t wanna do the homework and research and price checking to keep their project low cost. At the end of this week I’m gonna post the first video of a three video series of this entire build hopefully will help I’m going to discuss the foundation, plumbing, electrical building structure, detailed room measurements and such so if you haven’t already, please subscribe and stay tuned for more to come and thanks for watching.
