"mild inappropriate touching" "On fully clothed girls" "He did it when we were sleeping so we weren't aware" They're downplaying this like it's nothing when it's very serious. It doesn't matter if it was on fully clothed victims, it doesn't matter how "mild" it was, it's still a molestation, and it doesn't matter if you were sleeping. It's still WRONG and something like this should never be taken lightly or downplayed. This really shows how much females are taken seriously and disrespected in their mindset.
@YamCherie5 жыл бұрын
Chicken Wings. The girls have a right to be accurate in how they describe what happened. A victim of abuse has a need to not portray it as something different than what it was. When the girls say "mild inappropriate touching," it isn't because they are minimizing what happened. It is because they are specifying mild versus anything more extreme. If they had been touched under their clothes or in their underwear, then that would be worse. It isn't that mild is ok, it is simply that extreme is worse. They are stating the facts, and you shouldn't pick apart the girls' words and try to make it mean something else. You shouldn't accuse the girls of not taking this seriously, when they just said it was serious and it was wrong. The parents did a great job in handling the matter, but the public wants to dramatize and say the parents were irresponsible.

@@shannonsuggs1152 I can do whatever I want. I'm entitled to my own opinion. Also, it's these girls that are diminishing their own experience. Look if it really hurts your feelings that bad then I'll take back my statement about a 14 year old versus a 50 year old (as dumb as that is). In this current situation, my main point was that these girls had zero knowledge of ever being touched until their parents told them. So in this situation, absolutely no counseling was needed and no damage done to their knowledge until they were told that there should be damage. It was thrown in their face and now they have the world telling them that they're victims and they should feel pain. If they need counseling it's because of words and thoughts, not because of anything physical that happened.

I am sorry about what happened to you, I pray you will be completely healed. I understand most of it since I experienced similar things. I did not grow up in a Christian environment at all. I wanted to point out that being molested is different from rape. Both wrong, no doubt, but it is not the same, specifically because in their case the girls did not even notice what was going on [which would have made it worse to heal if they did]. We should remember that he was a child himself, bad choices do not define us. It is unfortunate 😕 but blaming someone for their whole life for what they did as a child is not right. Also, as Christians we are called to forgive and have the desire to do so. We do not want to carry the burden of trauma, resentment and hate; it causes pain to ourselves...we understand that we sin everyday and that sin is serious and destructive spiritually even if we like to call some sins greater than others, they are the same- and that if God has forgiven us, so we should be able to do the same with others.. Despite how impossible it could seem there is true and definite forgiveness through Jesus&He heals de most deep wounds. He is their brother, back then a child and they did the right thing for themselves and under God's eyes. What happened later is unfortunate, but we have free will and control over our actions..

Whether or not you back the Duggars or not, coming forward before millions of people on TV is not an easy task. I have to give them some credit for doing this interview. Child molestation is not something one would want to talk about.
@emmadodson20749 жыл бұрын
Robert Dambeck according to them, it wasn't child molestation, it was "mild unwanted touching." So now little girls watching this will think what's happening to them is not a crime. I guess Michelle teaches home law school too.
@silvereagle20619 жыл бұрын
Emma Dodson No such thing as "mild unwanted touching". Amazing how they can come up with a new term not recognized by victims of molestation.
@ChristianpublishersOrg019 жыл бұрын
Robert Dambeck It is quite easy. JOSH: He touched the girls with their close on, likely on the vagina and the breast, merely copping a feel. Moreover, maybe he did the same in fake wrestling matches. JOHN SMITH: A guy I counseled, fingered the vagina of his 18-month-old girl as well as performing oral sex on her. NOW, how would you differentiate the two as to the level of gravity. You see, it is called qualifying what happened. JOSH: mild unwanted touch JOHN: gross sexual contact Can we label them both the same while explaining to a counselor, the police etc.? It is like the news media calls all sex offenders, sex offenders and they generally do not qualify. However, there is usually three level of sex offenders Basic sex offender Habitual sex offender Preditor A basic sex offender could be a person of 22 who bought beer for an 18-year-old, got her drunk, they had sex, she changes her mind, and he is convicted of sexual battery, meaning he used the alcohol to loosen up her inhibitions. The predator would be someone like John Smith in the above. Generally speaking, most states have a revised code law book that offers many levels of sexual offenses and they are qualified, just like the language the girls used. These are likely phrases that the counselor used with them, or maybe even the police.

So they don't condone the physical aspect of a relationship before marriage, but find it acceptable for Josh to molest his sisters. What the hell? What Josh did to his sisters is not 'inappropriate touching' it is molestation. The Duggars are such hypocrites. So many young boys who go through puberty are curious about girls, but don't molest their sisters. Just FYI to Jessa

Now that we know what we know about the molestation, it’s interesting to see just how careful Jill and Jessa were in this interview. They wouldn’t directly answer questions about if they were awake when he touched them. Instead they just keep saying “we weren’t aware”. If you read between the lines, they’re saying that even the times they were awake they weren’t aware that what Josh was doing was sexual. They were so sheltered that even if they knew he shouldn’t be touching them, they didn’t know there was sexual intent behind it. As if that’s supposed to make it less traumatic. So sad. I’m sure some of them feel different now, though.

When my grandfather “inappropriately touched” me when I was 9/10..my family also downplayed it. I also would never have called it molestation or considered myself a victim, until he passed away. It’s very difficult when you love someone very much and they do something horrible to you. You WANT to forgive them. You WANT to pretend it’s okay. I'm personally disgusted at two major things I've seen in this comment section: 1) Defending Josh, Jim Bob, and Michelle. How on EARTH can these three be defended for the pathetic way in which they've handled this mess? 2) Completely ignoring the neighbor girl/babysitter. What, are we going to pretend that she was not a victim, either? Why treat this like a "family" issue and tell everyone to leave it alone when we ALL know there was at least one victim outside of the family? What about her? Ugh, people, please employ some common sense and care about the victims instead of helping Jim Bob, Michelle, and Josh with this pathetic attempt at damage control.
