I love this. I was probably 12 when I first saw one at the Suzuki dealership my mom worked at. I thought it was so cool. I tried to convince my parents to buy me one as my first car. Of course that didn’t happen, but I get super excited when I see one to this day.

Make sure your brakes, steering and suspension aren't so rusted they compromise safety. Check your brake hoses for dry rotting/cracking and bring extra oil with you to replace what the engine consumes 👍

I daily drove a Suzuki X-90 for a couple years and loved it. Contrary to what reviewers at the time said, slow, un-sporty convertibles can be very fun. One thing I've never seen discussed about them is the engineering team definitely included someone that daily-drove a classic convertible. They fixed so many problems with daily convertible use: Tons of storage, secure storage, ground clearance, integrated roll protection, easy top removal and in-car storage... Many convertibles are still terrible at this.

I bought one new off the dealer lot in 1996, and it has been one of my favorite cars since. It's the same blue as the one in this video. I got the 2WD version, and the amount of get-up-and-go it has that the 4WD version doesn't is astonishing. With the shirt wheel base, you can actually lift the front wheels off the ground a little in a hard launch. In 1996,my roommate said she wouldn't drive it because it took off too fast, compared to her 1996 Ford Ranger.

The X90 is what the offspring of a Suzuki Sidekick and a Suzuki Cappuccino would look like, and that is what makes it unique from all the other 4x4s. That is also why I like the X90.

I absolutely love Suzuki/ Geo/Chevy trackers. I am reconditioning a 1998 2 door Chevy Tracker soft top right now. Already had it on the road lifted with 30's until i spun a bearing. Put it on the stands and once I saw the rear seatbelt mounts (very common car cancer point) I started buying and forming tin. I think it will end up being less new tin than my 1990 tin top Geo Tracker needed though!

I remember thinking "WTF" indeed, back when these weird little cars first hit the dealerships. The SUV craze had hit a fever pitch, and baby SUVs had recently debuted with raving success, and then these things happened. Even though I was never a fan of these in particular, I had really liked the Samurai and even it's lesser successor the Sidekick, so I figured this little machine at least had a simple and reliable driveline going for it, sharing brand name and possible chassis similarities. I'm glad to see this aging and niche car getting gearhead love as a possible cult fan following. I'm looking forward to the series!

@earlebird4262
@earlebird4262 Жыл бұрын
@@rod1499 it's unique and weird, and it's small and capable. I love everything about it, from the seat fabric to the wing (when equipped). I'm a big guy, but I love small vehicles. My weekend car is a Miata. People laugh because my head sticks out the top, but I still road trip and camp in it. Same with my motorcycle. It confuses people, and I love that. But when you explain that it's just about having fun, some of them get it. I like those people, and I like leaving the rest of them confused. I kinda like storage limitations, because they impose creative gear choices. I love the way '90s cars feel, and I like working on them. I don't own an x90, but I'd like to some day. I'm happy for you, and I hope you have a great time in it.
