Jayco Melbourne 2019....same problem here. I'm going to givethis a try, I have all the materials here at home already. I REALLY WANT TO KEEP the ORIGINAL THERMOSTAT....My Reasoning is we all camp differently. I also like to go in the deep back woods of the North East Boondocking. It may sound small but LED READOUT and battery energy conservation. I have already switched my smoke alarm, Carbon monoxide/propane alarms to battery...IT DID MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Another example is wired LED LIGHT at entry door....simple battery powered motion light. It all adds up.

Thanks for watching and hope it works for you. We also do some "light" boon docking and understand how power management is important. We added solar and lithium for that. Safe travels!

Thanks for watching!. I was surprised by what I found was going on behind the thermostat. Simple makes all the difference sometimes.

wonderful video! I went on a trip north this past week, and hit unexpected freezing temps at night in Oregon in the truck stops. My furnace would come on if the thermostat could read above 50F, but once that 15 year old manual slider thermostat was below what it considered a temperature, it would NOT kick on, hence I froze my butt off during the night. I could hear it try, the furnace clicked, but the blower would not come on. Also, when I had the thing working, it would Not stop at the 75F I had it set, but keep cooking me into the 90's. After watching this I have a pretty clear idea what is going on. The Thermostat shares a wall with the back of the fridge. Constant heat generated behind the fridge anyone?!

Costa thanks for watching. This was an amazing discovery that has made life more comfortable in the trailer! Insulate behind the thermostat and tape off hole the wires pass through and I think you will once again be happy with you camper!

Even if you do not want to switch out the thermostat, just simply adding the insulation and tape will dramatically improve the A/C performance.

Does it control more than one ac unit? I have separate ac and heat controls. 2004 Pace Arrow

My RV repairman told me I couldn't change out the old thermostat with the inaccurate slider for one like you installed that gives an actual temperature. Was he wrong?
@OurCoupledAdventure3 жыл бұрын
He may have been talking abut adapting a residential thermostat which can be tricky. The Thermostat we use is specifically made for the RV A/C and is very easy to install. We have been using it on the road now for close to 10k miles and it has performed flawlessly. Thanks for watching.

@@OurCoupledAdventure thanks for replying. I forgot he also told me it had to be a Coleman Mach just like the one that is there
@OurCoupledAdventure3 жыл бұрын
@@sharoncook3063 We made the upgrade to the Coleman Mack digital and it worked well. We took it to the next step with the Easy Touch RV thermostat that gave us Bluetooth connectivity with our phone. We can adjust temp from outside, inside, watching TV or in bed. We also have the option of connecting the thermostat to the internet via WiFi so we can check temp (for cats) and adjust from anywhere.

My airxcel thermastat will not read the room temp or go above 37 what can I do
@OurCoupledAdventure4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Jeff. My only suggestion would be to confirm the wiring. Beyond that IDK. Could be a defective unit. Maybe somebody passing through here may have a suggestion.

How do I determine heat strip or no heat strip?
@OurCoupledAdventure5 жыл бұрын
One of the selections for the mode selector switch will say "elec. heat" on your current thermostat.

I just purchased the thermostat you removed. I'm going to seal the wall back of the therm. I've seen others have the inconsistency of climate with this unit. How did you conclude that fixing the wall problem will also work this unit. (The analog)
