PART 1: The Inspirational True Story of Lee Asher of The Asher House Animal Sanctuary

Today’s guest is a total inspiration and one of the reasons I started a podcast…just so I could sit down and talk to my own personal heroes. And LEE ASHER is definitely that! Lee Asher started The Asher House animal sanctuary with a dream of fulfilling his life’s purpose. With nothing more than hope and an RV, he quit his day job in corporate America, and set off on a mission to rescue dogs. But his story started way before that. Lee overcame severe learning disabilities, scoliosis, a tumultuous upbringing, and years of being bullied by his peers. He knows better than anyone that sometimes you have to go through some pain to truly appreciate life’s beauty, and you do not want to miss a moment of his story.

Lee - no one is perfect! I , too have ADD and scoliosis. My dog was given away when I was a child and I never connected with people like I do with animals. Like you I have fear of abandonment/ death because I have lost everyone in my family except a sister across the country. I started rescuing stray cats but my health has deteriorated and I have to find a new purpose. You my friend have found and are living your purpose! Congratulations! You are motivating and uplifting to animals and people. Thank you. Your community loves you!! ❤️

When you work with animals as much as he does, you eventually will suffer from compassion fatigue. Lee needs to add people to take over on a regular time slot so that he can go to the movies, take a weekend trip or anything that could give me a break from the constant caretaking of these animals. We LOVE our animals and it's hard to trust their care to someone else, but it would benefit him if he could. We love you Lee so much for what you do and I'm sure a lot of us would like to be there on a regular basis to help you. Bless you and good luck in your search.❤

Lee Asher is a unique human being who cares about other living things. He understands animals, because he is an animal, just like all humans! He is right, you can't make the excuse because I have kids, family etc. When your doing something that truly makes you happy everyone around you benefits. I tell my son to find his passion, what makes you really happy and you'll love what you do no matter how hard it is. I quit a high paying corporate job of 16 yrs to open up my own grooming business when my son was born. I was doing what I loved to do and was able to stay home and raise my son. I didn't make as much $ but the rewards of being happy and being a mom was worth a million dollars. I still love my job now. Find your passion and go for it.

When i had a stroke 3 years ago i was so terrified of my life and what might happen in my future. At times it still happens , and im afraid that i dont have a purpose in life and wonder why ? But then i stop and think what im grateful for and everything i have accomplished in my life. It does make things a little better. Being bipolar i have to constantly find a way to get back up mentally and physically and not look back, but look forward to my future ! Thank you Lee for being so honest and loving . Since Lee does speak from his heart, there is an uncanny amount of wisdom coming out that deserves a book from the heart, maybe with a good interviewer. His articulation of difficult details of relationship is naturally perfect. Psychologists could benefit.

Great interview but one objection. Lee, you absolutely do not have to go low to beable to go high. your low part is the empath in you . The one that takes on all energy. You will simply have to learn to throw off the bad. Like those of us with anxiety disorder have to learn, if possible to throw off the fear.

Lee, I think you are most likely to suffer from C-PTSD from your childhood and maybe adulthood as well as result of it, just like me. That might be the reason why you have those mood swings when you perceive something negative around you. I would like you to know that you have inspired me a great deal to start actively fighting for my dream to have a dog sanctuary as well, although it would be a little different from yours and would also include therapy for victims of narcissist parents.

Lee, I've been following you since your 1st days in that RV with Stella, and along that way you adopted Tony and Sammy, Copper, Penny, PomPoms, and even these days I don't even hear you talk about Callie or Bo anymore....I remember when Bo got hurt at the dog park by an accident that involved another dog. I remember how excited you were when you and your friend bought your first house in Colorado. Since then you've had two more, with loads of land. You're truly one of the best people I've ever known. The trauma and pain I went thru was for a reason and because I'm the child of God He can use all those pain full things I endured what Satan meant for my harm God will use for my Good and for many others right now I'm in the healing and learning to surrender myself to Him. Nothing is ever wasted when Jesus in in the life of someone I'm waiting on His timing to go out and help other hurting people. Remember with Jesus in your life NOTHING is wasted. I just came across this video and I am so excited to see Lee doing a long form interview. I love Lee and his team at the Asherhouse. I have been following Lee for years now. He is my hands down favorite person in the animal rescue world. There is just something about Lee that is so vulnerable and he is so open with his followers. Watching him daily showing us his new rescues and their progress is great. I feel like I have been on this journey with Lee, even though I have never met him. He has the biggest heart and so much love to give to all the animals whether they are cats, dogs, horses, goats pigs or lamas. He loves them all and he gives them all. Brilliant chat, I won’t call it an interview because Lee talks about every aspect of running his sanctuary, these beautiful creatures are his children, and we all find it easy to talk about our children, some of us obsessively! Lee talks with,so much love and care in his heart, I applaud him as he’s loving a dream, which is not so easy when you are on your own, I love the way in which he greets every dog, wether it be a badly treated and starved or it’s on the defensive, his gentle touch on their bodies acts almost immediately, you can see the tightness in their poor bodies actually relaxing and finally rolling onto their backs, he makes them all feel protected loved and wanted…this man is an angel regardless of all his past problems he’s still a gentleman full of compassion and unconditional love….i wish there were more folks like Lee, we all love and adore you Lee, you are, SIMPLE THE BEST…..you occupy a place in all of our hearts, and thankyou Rachel for giving this lovely lovely guy time to talk….kind regards from across the pond in the U.K. Teresa…..x
