Very important to run a lift pump if you have a cp4.

I just found out this morning. I have a pump failure, metal shavings on the screen.

Same problem the old Cummins 5.9 and 8.3 had with the Bosch pumps that were cooled by diesel fuel, nothing but junk!

Yep had a disaster kit put on my 2011. Rails, injectors, everything except I did a cp3 conversion. Only thing they didn't check was the heads. Few months after I had a vacuum in my coolant system. Pulled the heads to do head gaskets and found a cracked piston. Need a new short block now. 211k miles

I used to love GM… but damn. They just let their customers down time and time again.

Ford & Cummins used the same CP4 and they’re all prone to failure.

HINO uses a Delphi fuel system that is more tolerant of lower quality fuels.

GM actually went to the HP4 denso pump which is probably the most reliable diesel fuel pump sold today. Shit happens and people fuck up. Fords been using that POS cp4 since 2011 and they still do the same thing.

I had no idea GM/Chevy used these. I thought only Ford used these hunks of junk. I have one on my 250, but they just developed a new pump to replace the CP4 that doesn't fail. I plan on switching before mine fails.

😂 ford , gm , ram and Volkswagen, and I'm sure many others , it's a bosch injection system that many companies use
@GuretoSefirosu2 ай бұрын
@@brianbonilla154 Yes, but in other countries where they don't remove the sulfur from diesel (basically all other countries) these things don't fail. The failure is primarily a US thing. I know for a fact that BMW and VW use the CP4.

@@brianbonilla154 6.0 PSD or something else? Ram is having major problems with the block heaters right now. My former boss and friend has a 2023 Ram. The block heater just totalled his engine, but he had the lifetime warranty. Engine has been on backorder for a month. All of 'em have issues right now.

Leave it to GM to make the executive decision to put something with very little testing on a consumer vehicle.

I'm certain the 6.7 powerstroke still uses the cp4 too

What happened here then, I just read, ford power stroker lawsuit was filed over the high-pressure CP4 injection pump, and Dodge also used the CP4 pump and just did a recall on the 2019 and 2020 6.7 Cummins.
@connor49613 ай бұрын
All three diesels used it, LML Duramax, 6.7 Powerstroke, and the 2019 to 2020 6.7 Cummins.

Aren't they cheaper built than a cp3 as well?

I suggest anyone not wanting to tackle that job, change filters regularly. Use only reputable fuel and run HotShots Cetane boost. My truck has 195K and I was scared to death so I did the change myself on a 2013 D’MAX and it was a MF’r! However, the CP4 was still in great shape……

I’m so glad the wife finally let me do the CP3 change. Although the CP4 wasn’t in bad shape it went to the bone yard. This is NOT an easy job….

Just my humble opinion but the Duramax should've got the p-pump treatment like the older 5.9 Cummins diesels did.

In your opinion can, what is the the most reliable Diesel engine? Trying to figure the best option for towing a camper trailer cross country. Thanks
@thegreenerthemeaner Жыл бұрын
Been around all 3. There's no reason why some are trouble free and some are always in a shop. Some take everything thrown at them in the way of use and modifications. Some should have never been sold. If buying a new one, find your best deal and buy an extended warranty just before the factory one runs out if it's been without issue. For the price difference and the fuel price difference, I'm about to go back to gas in a 1 ton.
