Hi Danny, this is really great, to finally see the actual overall state of this car. Lots of stuff to do, but also a few that you can do with no real cost at all. I may even have some good stuff that you could use on it lying around. Like your drivers' seat: I've got two perfectly good ones stuffed around here. Maybe we can switch: you get me a good passenger side seat (which is the drivers side in my car) and we swap seats. (Meet somewhere in the middle on a roadtrip :-) ).

As to the rust on the rear: you sure need to fix that damper housing if you're planning to get MOT on it. Yours is rusted out worse than mine was. I could stand with cutting out the part itself, yours seems to also have taken parts of the platework around it. forum.astragsi.nl/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=10682&start=630. But it can be fixed.

Nice video man, i am looking forward to seeing the bodywork and the rear schok repair vids. i got a question tho, are the parts for this car very rare and expensive? i mean the usual parts like the oil filter, coolant hoses and maybe some suspesion componets? as i absolutly adore this car and one day would like to own ome but i dont know very much about it since its not that popular online recently on the forums and youtube.
@projectfearn3 жыл бұрын
Panels seem expensive especially genuine ones. As for other bits I am not sure as I haven't really been looking. 😎
@AstraGSiC20XE3 жыл бұрын
Overall regular parts (normal maintenance parts like filters, braking pads, rubbers) are not really that expensive. For restauration parts the problem is they get scarce. Original GSi rear panels (if you're able to find one at all) are 600+ euro's, where they used to go for about €175 10 years ago. You can also choose to put an original GM rearpanel from a regular Astra. Those can be found for some €300. Last option is aftermarket, but they do not fit as nice as OEM and are still €200 + .
@hugo45873 жыл бұрын
@@AstraGSiC20XE okay thx for the info, i guess you could try and mimic the bodypanel with some wire and bodyfiller but thats gonna be a hit miss thing.
@AstraGSiC20XE3 жыл бұрын
@@hugo4587 That will not really do, since the inner wheelarches are also always far gone, as well as the inner plating around the fuel fill cap. Also the sidepart hidden behind the rearbumper is really bad most of the time. You can see how it was with mine here: forum.astragsi.nl/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=10682

Are the side panels different from the "stock" one as an example 1.6 ? If it's the same I can find the arches and the maybe the panels. Last I checked the panels ware like 200 Euro.
@bartbaselmans3 жыл бұрын
Panels are not the same. You will need rivets for the clips of the side skirts. And there is a antenna hole in standard ones that you need to fill. But if you put in the work it's certainly doable
