@@LarcR I thought the same thing. When I heard he paid that much for the clothes I scratched my head and didn’t get it, I now see this is probably the stock of a life time and he will be making money off of this purchase for awhile. Everytime I saw the dinning room full of boxes for Mark I was thinking bless his heart he has to sort and and take pictures and get all that stuff organized. Haha he probably questioned his career til the money starts rolling in from it 😂🤣 (jk).

I have been concerned about the dust too, most of all when he was digging around in the attic insulation. There is no way I would risk doing that in such an old house without, at the very least, having it tested for asbestos first. Mesothelioma is no joke. 100 percent fatal and some people get it from a single, brief exposure a decade or so earlier.

Difficult always to know where to start first, assuming you keep the property secure (try doing this in scumbag cities of the uk) . Clear the trash first or find and pull the valuables first ? Decent Auction houses in UK are hard to come buy (sellers premiums 15-20 percent plus vat unless you can get favourable terms with them, plus lotting fees, generalists dont always get enough for items, specialists will want stuff pre-sorting for them, not an easy way to make a fortune.

The first DVF dress label you showed with the green flowers is older and more valuable that the black and white one. There was an umlaut on the u of Furstenberg in the first collections. The umlaut was dropped in the mid 70s. So the label on the black and white dress is a mid to late 70s dress, but the green flowers dress will be 60s/early 70s. Yes and to all replies to your comment. As a 55 year sewist ive been hoarding specialty items as well as useful from their stores and estate sales. I have glass vintage buttons., old doilies and lace. I buy clothes just for the cotton lace. Even not so old but maybe a hole in the sweater or too tight. Lace is expensive even new and nice cotton laces are up to $20 per yard, even more. I can by a top or dress with vintage lace on it for under $5 ad gain maybe p to $50 of lace. Same with anything. I buy wrecked purses from my small thrift just for all the hardware on it. Rings, zippers, straps if in good condition.

Your excitement brought the episode to life. How awful when life shocks a person and serves them twists from which they recoil into a lonely hoarder state of mind, but it does give others a unique window into history. The mingling of excitement, imagined history and perhaps recalled or is it imagined pleasure from days and events long past produced a varied mixture of emotions. My wife spent weeks digging through items from our children's pasts, it is hard and often emotional work.

Even if the clothes aren’t salvageable, keep any buttons that are, to sell, and keep a note with the designer’s name on any that are from designer garments. They can be worth money. For the garments that are not salvageable, any fabric you can, especially those in natural fibers-quilt makers love vintage pieces of fabric. Also-wasn’t there’s bigger attic also containing clothes? I’d check that one for jewelry in the far corners, too! Wonderful series, and thanks for the video about Madame Rac. You had to know, given all the clothes in the house, that eventually her spirit would force you to learn at least a little bit about vintage clothing!

I love how well this turned out for everyone involved. The owners of that house didn't have to pay someone to clear it out. Instead, someone paid them to clear it out. And what a great job they're doing! That is money in the bank for the owners. The vintage clothes dealer got enough stock to last him for a very, very long time! And Alex made some money from that. Then he found some more clothing! Hans and Zinovia made some money for their hard work, and likely got some new subscribers for their channel. We subscribers are having a socially distanced blast! And we'll get to take part in the auction! All during a miserable pandemic that leaves us struggling to find pleasure. Everyone is having their needs met, making a living, being treated fairly, and Madame is being remembered, appreciated and respected. Big thanks to Alex and Melissa! PS I'm a bit alarmed to discover that it looks like I'm older than Alex's gorgeous young mother!
