If you click "SHOW MORE" in the description above your be able to see Links to the Tools 🔧🔨🔧 I use. Also Clickable Chapters📋 📙 throughout the video and other Links 🎬 that may be of interest. I've had a few viewers request where they can buy the tools they see in some of my videos but it's not very clear that the "SHOW MORE" tab has a lot of information in that may be of interest. Admittedly the amazon links are associated with me and I would earn a small commission which helps towards keeping the channel funded.

What a insane quality - filming and your voice. Do you think its possible to replace the chain without remove the engine of the car as you did? Its a P 308sw 2008

@@CoatsandGaiters There are chain locking kits about 50€/£ for EP6. Do think they are enough? They look a bit different - less parts.

Really helpful video thanks. I am just in the process of changing the timing chain on our 207 and we do not have the flywheel locking tool at the moment. Is it safe to do the method you mentioned of putting it in 5th and putting the brake down or is it better to wait and order the locking tool?
@CoatsandGaiters4 ай бұрын
@@Stuartcutting putting it in gear works ok. A few manufacturers suggest this method as sometimes the only way to lock it is via the starter motor aperture.

@@CoatsandGaiters that’s great thank you. I was hoping to avoid taking things off to get to the flywheel so I will give it a go.

Please advise me My N14 engine timing chain snapped and we cranked several times before we realised that the timing chain was snapped. Do you think this will affect the valves or not ? And how to be sure about that without moving the engine head gasket?😢 Kind regards
@CoatsandGaiters2 ай бұрын
I think its an interference engine so valves may be bent. Try removing spark plugs and looking inside.
@Jericson417 ай бұрын
Hi these videos have been fantastic but we are having a recurring problem with ours basically no matter how we time it up it always runs rich then occasionally throws up the correlation fault, on the reader it says the inlet dephaser is not programmed and the dephaser solenoid is showing an invalid value, could it be that the dephaser pulley needs unlocking afterwards and if so how could this be done. many thanks
@CoatsandGaiters7 ай бұрын
These engines are very funny about everything being exactly spot on. How many miles has the engine done?
@Jericson417 ай бұрын
It’s done less than 60k, we changed the timing chain because of a correlation fault and we timed it exactly how the instructions said to time it, then we retimed it easily 30-40 times and using a digital angle tool we set it exactly 90degrees and even tried 1degree each way and still had the same result, we changed the cam position sensor, dephaser solenoid, we also changed the head gasket and piston rings (that was more to stop it burning oil) we also tried the original dephaser pulley, the only thing we didn’t do is measure the wear on the original chain as we assumed it was no good, I believe there is a problem that is preventing it from dephasing as the fault only comes on when it’s revved quite hard, we’re just completely stumped now

So that engine is easily fixable so it’s got some bent valves no big deal if they snapped off and punched holes in the pistons then that’s a different matter altogether. So those two cam bolts you could have tightened up to the 180 % they won’t shear off as you state as they’re just tighten and stretch more not that you wouldn't fit new stretch bolts. Just another crappy engine design no key ways when that has worked for so many years from the first engine builds. We had real engineers that worked out that simple but fool proof fact key way locks pulleys and gear wheels. To many engines been destroyed by bolts that have come loose and no key ways to save them
