As I commented on your part 1 video, Eberlestock does make upgraded shoulder pads, they are more padded and are wider. As we get older, it is harder to carry the heavy packs as we did in our youth. I'm almost 70 years old and can attest that my years as an Airborne Ranger back in the 1970s has really screwed up my bones and joints! #Arthritis_SUCKS

Is there a direct comparison of the shoulder pads somewhere? On the Eberlestock website, you can't really see any difference. Or can you buy the shoulder pads separately?

Faithful number 5 checking in. I couldn’t believe the deal you got on the Eberlestock pack. I was waiting for this video from you. I’ve tried Eberlestock packs a few times. I’ve had the opposite experience of you. I’ve always thought the suspension carried very well. I dare say, most comfortable pack ever. But the bag always seemed to be smaller than advertised for me. The other big issue I’ve always had is that when I packed out the bag, it always bulged and encroached on the exterior pockets making them almost completely unusable. To me, it looked like you could’ve cinched down the load lifters tighter on it. I know I would have. That’s always made a big difference for me. I’ve never had an ILBE for comparison though. Keep up the great videos!

I prefer the Eberlestock G4 operator pack.....built in rifle scabbard, plus the pockets make a perfect shooting rest for off pack shooting!. Plus, smaller size makes me condense and overtaking ever item that I might want to take. Great comparison videos

@Dan-H-617 Terminator is just the right size for minimal gear packing. But when I go packing whole kitchen sink Battleship is the bomb.

Im sure that you are more knowledgeable than I on those packs, but just based on the video it appears that the Eberlestock my not be adjusted properly for your frame. It seems like it may be adjusted about 4 to 5 inches too high for your frame. I could be wrong, it is kinda tough to tell from the video, but that may be worth considering. It also looked like the top two shoulder straps could have been pulled in a bit tighter on the Eberlestock as well to me. Again really hard to tell for sure though.

i adjusted it to my frame when i got it according to the video on their youtube but i agree something isnt right. i am in the middle of redoing several things about that pack and giving it another go. they make more padded shoulder straps also,, but they are out of stock.

Shoulder straps on Battleship are too thin and narrow. I swiped the newer one of theirs with wider length. I would give thumbs up to Battleship for conveniences but for comfort fact ILBE is the winner.

Faithful #6…I am more comfortable hand carrying my rifle rather than packing it. Hand carrying allows you to shift the weight and rest parts of your body. The problem with any load on your back is it artificially raises your CG which alters your natural balance. Placing the heavier items in the bottom can help.

I have to say I think or wobble issue is cuz I saw ur load lifters weren't tightened up which pulls the pack close to u and is meant to pull close so it doesn't wobble nor shift around. Ur load lifters were so long and very loose. Just suck em in as tight as they go. I think the issue I'm saying is 100% of the problem.

Ive noticed all the larger eberlestock packs have that wobble. Sad. Really like their layout. Especially the side pouches like on the halftrack and tomahawk. Halftrack is by far my favorite just very limited.

I find the kelty eagle does not handle heavy loads well. My thoughts is the shoulder straps are too narrow and padding is too soft.

Hello there, I couldn’t help but notice that on the battleship, you did not sense down the straps at the top, tight enough. I believe that they could be the cause for the instability.

Have you thought about taking off bar tacks on the load lifters? In my opinion this is a must thing to do when you get ILBE packs. I got 2 ILBEs and done it all of them.
