We've noticed a lot of comments regarding the shadows and glare on the whiteboard. We are aware of this problem and after filming the first few episodes, we figured out a better way to light Taylor and Tyler without the shadow. Please be patient with us. It's really hard to do properly light a highly reflective surface (like the whiteboard). You will hopefully notice a positive change over the next few weeks. For those that don't know, Taylor and Tyler have already filmed over half of the NT videos, so when we get feedback, it's hard to implement right away. Thanks for your understanding and patience.

I am an 82-year-old widow who has neglected a serious study of the New Testament for most of my life. I have determined to correct this error through our CFM study this year, but I am not adept with all the new technology. As a history buff, I have always sought to learn the background of any person, community, event, or story I am exposed to. This segment of Taylor and Tyler’s New Testament introduction is an answer to prayer for me. Thank you for presenting this information in such a way that my needs were met and my understanding expanded. God bless your efforts.

Hang in there. Prayer will enlighten more than systematic CFM. The Holy Spirit enlightens beyond academic study. Holiness is open to all regardless of marriage status, age, education.

This struck me as a "tour de force" in getting me ready for studying the New Testament this year. I deeply appreciate the cultural context, the history and love the theater metaphor for understanding and valuing the differences in perspective of the four gospel writers.

I have studied a little about the Greeks, Romans, etc., but never put it together with the Biblical context of what was missing between the Old and New Testaments. I learned a lot. I wondered when the name would be changed from Book of Mormon Central to something else because this channel is so much more. Scripture Central fits it perfectly.

This was so incredibly helpful! I typically find history to be a bit boring and tedious to study and forget it almost as soon as I learn it. So it was really helpful to have a short, condensed history to provide context for the New Testament and have it present in a way that is clear and easier to remember.

This lesson was very helpful for me. I have never really understood the difference between the 2 main sects despite reading about it from time to time. I knew they had different beliefs and what those were but I never understood why they had those different beliefs. The historical backdrop was the missing piece that made it all make sense. The historical context has helped me understand things much more. Thank you, BoM Central Team!

I had been more focussed on what you were saying than the glare, but a change is often good. I am continually amazed at how much I have to learn and how much you are able to teach me and help me experience ( I was listening) more fully after being a member of the church for 46 years. When we were first baptized we were welcome to attend institute classes with Dr. Dennis Wright, an amazing teacher too. Thank you for these videos. I find them very instructive. I love this way of teaching. Regarding this particular one, It is so important to know the context to understand better what is going on and the people actions or ways of thinkings. It is a basic principle in genealogy. If we want to understand our ancestors, let us study the historical, languages and cultural context. It is important too to understand foreign people. So important to avoid wars and conflicts and misunderstandings.

As a lifelong observer of history and how it has impacted the world, this is fascinating. For instance, you mention the various empires over hundreds of years, including Alexander's, that had such profound influences on the jewish people over those centuries! As a horseman, I observe those empires would not have existed in the forms they took without the horse. Nuts and bolts of history and scriptures.

Love your lessons. Don’t love your lighting. A huge thank you for your amazing teaching throughout the years. I have learned so much. A tip for you, put (large) diffusers on your lights and put them higher up, then the light will be a lot more pleasing and it will look more ”professional”. I am trying to help you here, I am not writing this to complain but to help you with these technicalities. I am a photographer and why not ask a member or friend who is a photographer and he or she will help you for free to set up the lights. I would have loved to help you but I live in Europe. Again, thank you for all that you do!

Your Lessons are always amazing. ❤ So grateful for them. Keep working on the new stage and settings. Maybe the tip above will get rid of the shadows on faces, also your shadows that are bouncing around onto your board, making it hard to see and read your visual presentation, which are truly so helpful! Keep trying .. but your old staging was worked great 👍🏻 ❤. Too dark with too many shadows. 👍🏻

@PhotoViking We have a large team of professionals who work to take our production quality to the next level. We debated getting rid of the whiteboard this year to incorporate more multimedia solutions, but Taylor and Tyler felt more comfortable with the whiteboard. As you can probably imagine as a photographer, it is not ideal to have a large white reflective surface in any lighting situation. We have used large diffusers, and other methods, but our space is small and not ideal for productions. (Try looking up Book of Mormon Central on Google Maps and you'll see a 360 view of the studio space) While the dark set is here for the foreseeable future, we are constantly seeking to improve our lighting, so we hope you'll stick around as we improve throughout the year. We have to figure out how to light Taylor and Tyler as well as make sure the board is visible and not distracting. Thanks for the feedback! :)

I was reading (I don't remember where,) that John wrote his Gospel after he wrote Revelations. He had went to Ephesus and many begged him to tell his story of Christ and write his Gospel. It is said that he had time to digest and understand what he had experienced with the Lord more fully, and that time to process led to a more detailed and wonderfully rich Gospel. Wonderful channel.

Can you point me in a direction to learn more about why Nephi's writing style of the book of Mormon is so much easier to understand and clearer to read?? PERFECT. I feel as though I have just partaken of not only a delicious meal but one also nutritionally satisfying. If I were teaching secondary school RE New Testament GCSE, that christology diagram would be the framework drummed into my students. Coursing my mind are potential 1500 word essays on compare and contrast..; or Select one group of Judaism and discuss relevance of its perspective in society and personal identity today; Hebrew was no longer the core language of the Jews at the time of Jesus, discuss; Imagine you are an Essene, explain your philosophy and lifestyle... I could go on! I was asked a few weeks ago if I would consider a part time casual lecture role but unable to bear the thought of those extra hours in preparation (hats off to you guys) and marking of assignments, turned it down. I don't know if this lesson is a sign, I certainly wasn't looking for one but it's certainly instilled enthusiasm not felt in a decade. Maybe I will give the college a call! Regardless what a fantastic start to a new year of gospel study. Thank you.
