Great videos! I have a 2012 Passat 2.5se with just under 90k, map sensor code came up, and all the signs of it needing to definitely be changed, changed the sensor, cleaned the throttle body up, used a blue shop towel and a good old stick with a rag to reach in there, cleaned the port from the inside of the intake and outside to make sure I got as much oil off as possible, went with the pcv diaphragm replacement and cars driving like it did when it was new. Amazing what a difference in the vehicles behavior it made. Engine sounds good and the shifting is so smooth again! Thanks for the info buddy!

Great info , that fixed one of the problems plus countless vacuum hose leaks. The smoke machine to test vacuum leaks is definitely a must have . Off the VW to get the diaphragm, and hopefully that will be the last code fixed out of three screens of codes . Most vacuum. Great video and knowledge on the VW is excellent. I was a Benz AMG tech , now just MB and BMW AMG and M , and the occasional VW as favors for friends .

My VW Golf had the same code P0106 come up my ODBlink MX. Diaphragm was torn in same spot. Replaced it with a dorman 917-064. I had to file/score the old valve around the clips so I could control the breaking of the plastic. A little scary but I don't think you can take it off with breaking it. Start to finish with cleaning the sensor was under an hour. Thank you for posting the video, it helped a lot.

Did you just change the diaphragm and code went away?

Here is a tip for you good people dealing with this p0106 issue. Check your intake manifold bolts, they may be loose. A loose intake manifold can contribute to a code p0106. Upon doing this, clean the inside of the intake manifold, clean out your throttle body, clean out your hoses & check your intake manifold bolts. Throttle body - torx 30 Intake manifold bolts - either a 6mm hex or a torx 40 (6 inch or longer "Bit" works best to reach) Clean with throttle/intake cleaner For map sensor, clean with map sensor cleaner and let it dry for at least 15 minutes. Map Sensor cleaner can be bought at walmart/autozone/oreily Clear out your p0106 with an obII reader or disconnect & reconnect your battery. Good luck and hope it helps you.

Will a bad PVC cause excessive oil consumption? My 10 2.5 Jetta seems to drink about 1 quart every 1500 miles.

I changed mine already but it keeps leaking oil is there something else I can change

Do you need to clean the oil out of the intake or will it take care of itself on its own?
@SkyhookStudios6 жыл бұрын
Brett Warner you want to try and clean out as much as you can. Residual oil can foul the map, plus it's better for your plugs and catalytic converter that you clean it out the best you can. A little bit is not a big deal. Just get what you can and call it a day.

I've replaced the map sensor and the throttle body and its still f ing up. Gonna do this tomarrow. Just a question, y'alls epc light go on when you get on the gas real hard? I turn the car off and it resets the epc light and takes it out of limp mode then ok again till i go to fast again.

Change the crank shaft sensor to fix the p0106 limp mode, if you experience your car cant rev past 3000 rpms and cars dies, that fixed my EPC code and limp mode

Just want to know where you got your tow hook from because i got one from ebay, but the thread size is too small for my 2011 2.5 jetta.

It's been a while since I got that and haven't had it on the car for a few years. I know it's left handed thread though.

@@SkyhookStudios oh okay, and i just ordered the dorman pcv , did changing that and cleaning map sensor solved the problem forever or we still have to clean once in awhile

It's hard to remove all the oil so you might need to go back in after a bit.

There's multiple reasons for the implausible code to pop. The main one is that diaphragm being ripped. The video is more on how to change that part rather then an extensive diagnosis of all possible problems that could cause the code.

I've never seen this diaphram being used on any other of my cars. It's such a flawed design. If i didn't see this video i would have paid close to $300 to get a new MAP sensor installed. I took everything apart and saw a little pool of oil in the airway chamber part of the engine, this design is ridiculous. a failure prone rubber diaphram that leaks oil into the air channel and the MAP sensor that just happens to be on the bottom of that chamber where oil pools up. What a mess, thieving VW service shops.

Just got hit by a vw dealership $230 to replace a MAP sensor for this p0106 code. Sad thing is I had it to 3 different dealerships all of which sent me off without fixing it. I questioned them about just replacing the sensor and they assured me bad sensor. I even knew better but I was pretty desperate at that point missing work to make these appointments. 4 days later check engine light back on they're going to be getting a phone call tomorrow.
