That house design is a throw back to when we used to be "front porch" communities and everyone helped each other out. I love that cleaning the property and house up helped lighten the sadness. We had to clean up my brother's mobile home after he killed himself and it was so sad and depressing. But when we had cleaned it all up and painted, and got it all fixed...it wasn't so depressing. Yes, we miss him and we're terribly sad, but DOING something with your hands helps your heart. I agree - when people have either a serious depression or financial struggles - it's overwhelming. The list of things that need to be done and the gap in resources to do it means sacrificing the outside to keep the inside operating. It gets more complicated when you see how many different tools he used and the commercial quality - average homeowner, especially if they are fairly new - won't have that level of tools on hand, and can't afford to buy them let alone pay a team of people to do what he was willing to do for free - probably would have cost $2k at least in labor/time. And if they are elderly, they aren't strong enough to use the tools, even if they own them.

I have been watching your videos a few weeks now. I started because of how relaxing and satisfying I found them (as with all the grass cutting style). I keep looking for them now because your message is uplifting. I am an educator and the reminder that we do things for the outcome and not the income was needed. Let me tell you what, I was inspired 1/2 thru to go work in my yard. The care you give to each person(s) property is inspiring. There were several times in each of the videos that I predicted you going just beyond all limits, one of which was the bird bath back together. I actually said out loud “yes! I knew it!” My son looked at me and said “what?” I always thumbs up and have been subscribed since the beginning! Keep it up!
