THE CHALLENGE
- I must recruit all 40 characters in the normal playable cast of Conquest. (Capturable enemies and DLC/Amiibo units are not required.)
- Every character must be trained: at the end of the campaign, the sum of their level before promotion and their displayed level in their final class must be at least 25. For the purposes of this rule, Felicia, Jakob, Gunter, Camilla, and Leo are considered to have been level 0, 0, 5, 10, and 16 before promotion, respectively.
- No DLC or multiplayer battles are allowed.
BONUS OBJECTIVES
- Have every character get married. (Gunter, Shura, Flora, and Izana need only unlock an A-rank support with Corrin.)
- For each character, acquire an additional class with an A+ support, if possible. (Characters who can't get new classes this way, like Jakob, should unlock A-rank support with Corrin instead.)
- Kidnap all of the unique capturable bosses.
OTHER RULES
- DLC, path bonuses, visitation bonuses, and battle bonuses are banned.
- No random events in My Castle (Lottery Shop, conversations around the castle, etc.) are allowed. Birthdays are included in this ban. I may use the Private Quarters once, immediately after chapter 6, when it is not random.
- Einherjar, Logbook, DLC, Amiibo, and Bond units are banned.
- Facilities like Lilith's Temple and the Prison that refresh over time may only be used once between maps. The exception is that I can use them, upgrade them, and then immediately use them again.
- I am allowed unlimited food and gems, but not Dragon Vein Points.
- I can acquire a Chef's Hat. I cannot visit other castles for any other purpose.
- I may manipulate results from the Mess Hall according to the abilities of my best chef. (So I can't get Exquisite meals until I acquire Jakob, Peri, or Percy.)

After all this time, we finally get to see how the early planning gets elaborated into a full strategy. On an unrelated note, this map would benefit quite a bit from a Dragon Vein. I once saw somebody suggest forcibly switching every the Kitsune in or out of their hidden state, and at least superficially, that seems like a solid idea for allowing you to work around the gimmick without completely trivializing it.

I've gained a new appreciation for Fierce Mein. Benny isn't usually someone I use, but the boost to accuracy is awesome. Also, love seeing how you weaponize Gunter's personal skill. Fantastic video!

I kinda wish his reclass of fighter was swapped with Dark Mage for the sheer utility of having Benny run around with Heartseeker and Fierce Mien and instantly making player phase utility more reliable, without giving up his ability to get 8-move flight through marriage to Azura, Beruka or Camilla. It wouldn’t even be that big of a nerf to his combat when his friends both give him fighter already in case he wants any of its skills. I’m sure Sorc Benny could also be a very interesting Nos-Tank as well

I'm considering making him a Dark Mage (through Nyx) for this reason. That, and trying out Ignatius as a Nosferatu Tank instead. Malefic Aura kinda of help, considering Ignatius personal too (probably the same reason people would pair Benny with Azura, I think? It does give him Rally Strengh if you reclass him into Berserker) Although Ophelia exist.

I really like your explanation of the map, it helped me follow at least what the intent was behind the map. I won't lie--I've gotten used to Master of Arms Beast Killer Odin (with Vantage+Heartseeker) to decimate the map, because it's genuinely unfun to play, and a miss at the wrong time can mean multiple additional turns thanks to the concealment mechanic.

Rewrite is pretty interesting here! With Azura saying corrin sabotaged the peace talks, I don’t remember how Izumo played out in the rewrite but that’s quite a devious line

In the rewrite of Chapter 18 Ryoma seemed willing to accept peace until Corrin remembered about Hoshido's throne and asked "uh wait can Garon sit on your magic chair?" which pissed off Ryoma. So Azura's kind of right, and she did try to warn Corrin against saying that. Although that was an honest mistake, so Azura justifying it by saying Corrin sabotaged the peace talks because they knew that Garon would just declare war again anyways is quite....conniving, as Zoran says. Anyways, great video! Can't wait for the next one!

Sometime, i kinda wish there was even more class lol. I mean, Soldier could have been a potential choice to get an interesting choice, with Dark Falcon and another class (most likely General, but for an infantry lance, a new class would work better, sporting a bow and lance). As there's always a counter part in Hoshido, that would require another class in a similar vein. Considering the lack of Axe (outside of Oni Savage, I think), could be neat to have a class starting with a club, that would promote into a Sword Axe Kinshi(?), mostly having Griffon Knight skills from Awakening, making other units particularily mobile, and Blacksmith or Dread Fighter as another promotion. More limiting than the Nohr version though. And certainly not class built for the game lol. Anyway, inspires me to come back to Fates.

great to see an update to this series. i think this was probably a hard chapter to make an interesting clear of, but i love seeing how even in the context of this challenge run, how wildly overspecced you are to handle it. question: at 25:10 you mention great knight benny marrying peri would unlock cavalier skills at no extra cost. do you not still have to use a partner seal to make the game "register" benny as a great knight via cavalier tree? or by no extra cost do you just mean he doesn't need to spend time in classes that are not his main class for the purpose of unlocking new skills

No--as long as you're in a shared class with someone else you have S or A+ support, you'll learn the skills from both base classes as you levelup. It's an efficient (cheap) way for, say, Silas and Effie to get great coverage skills if you couple them together early. Same thing for other shared classes like Hero and Bow Knight.

Ah, I've been looking forward to a new entry in this series! Great timing. I wanted to ask, what's your motivation for not using fixed growths for this run, where you did for your VW playthrough? Are you taking on-the-fly adaptations to growths as part of the challenge?

Mostly just to make that part of the challenge, yeah. I did consider using the fixed-growths patch, and in fact that’s what I’m using on my planning file, but I thought it would be illuminating to see just how easily I could apply a fixed-growths test run where everything is pre-planned to a separate run where I’m doing it all “for real.”

Ok, this map isn’t *that* bad, conquest gives you everything you could possibly need to deal with this chapter. I think I would rather this illusion mechanic than fog of war, which I am sure is what designers would have done if it was implemented on the 3ds.

Hi Zoran or anyone else who may know about this. Do you know if it is possible to import a branch of fate save into citra so that one can use it for future runs? When I import 3ds saves into citra, it lets me continue from that save file but I can not start new runs with it from the branch of fate. This means that my current fresh fates save on citra only lets me continue from my imported chapter 6 but the branch of fate is completely greyed out.

Hey Zoran im sure youve gotten this question a ton but what Citra settings do you use? Your game runs so smooth with no stutters and with the hd texture pack it is super clean meanwhile mine has some pixelation on it when om using it

i’m 5 months late but make sure you have your resolution up high enough in your graphics settings. using the hd texture pack when citra is displaying the game at a lower resolution makes it look terrible.

On turn 1 how did you know that the enemies would move in a way that the 11 dmg enemy would break Silas' shield guage rather than the 3 dmg one? If it had been the other way around he would have died, I know enemies dont see guard potential so do the higher damage ones always move first?

They have a set attacking order that gets overridden when lethal damage is seen by the AI. So the one that hits the guard gauge actually skipped the line because he saw lethal. Usually the AI tries to preserve its strongest attackers if they will die the same way a weaker one would with the idea that a weaker one might open the way for a stronger attacker to get the kill and not die in retaliation.
