Really enjoyed the video. We're on the East Coast. Definitely want to get out west for a trip in the future .

Great trip! Have you considered treating your clothing with permethrin (if legal there) to stop ticks and mosquitoes?

I wish! The spray isn’t legal but Permethrin treated clothing is, not much options for clothing and they are pricey.

Another great segment! Thanks so much. Ugh those ticks. What a nuisance. When I did Caddy to Bernard I ran into the same issue trying to find a site on Sailing the first night. There were sites marked on map that just didn't seem to exist. I ended up stealth camping on that sand beach at the far end. It was not ideal but it was past sunset so what can you do? Incidentally there were a few tents on that island where you ended up so I'm sure it must be used pretty regularly! If I NEED to camp at a non designated site I just don't have a fire and otherwise leave no trace of course (as with any other site). I figure no fire no foul? 🤷🏻♀️

Thanks for watching!! Glad I wasn’t the only one having an issue! I have stealth camped in other places as well, when it’s late there isn’t much you can do. I think it’s fine for those of us who don’t have fires, cut any wood etc… especially in the high traffic areas where it’s a guess of sites are going to be available. Have a good season, hope you get out!!

@@ManitobanOutdoors thanks! I finally did Rabbit River last weekend, was great! İt's generally too low to manage in my kayak but it was just fine at this time of year. As for the sites, it was a good reminder not to count on a site being there just because it's marked on a map! I'm generally okay if I can't find a proper site as a hammock camp so really all I need is two trees 😂

Good stuff! When I drove by a few weeks ago it looked like some good flow! How far did you go?

@@ManitobanOutdoors I paddled to Cole Lake though I only camped at Site 6. Had mostly good weather and really lucked out with a family of otters (6 or 7!) that were in and out of the river while I was on shore for a portage. I'll be back there for sure! Early season again of course.
