Just want to say that I found your channel recently and I’m hooked! I just put down money on a ‘21 TI but I won’t actually get the boat until August of next year. Will be sailing around my native Puerto Rico, and as I watch your videos I’m taking plenty of ideas to implement on my own vessel and journeys! Cheers and stay safe!

Here's something I've never seen a channel cover before - Boarding ladders and/or platforms. Dinghies - done, but the other thing for people without a sugar scoop or cat, never seen it and it's used EVERY time we get on or off the boat when cruising.

I was really enjoying your video and was going to subscribe till I got to the part where you were grabbing the coral to pull yourself along while spear fishing.
@markjvairy3 жыл бұрын
Don’t actually grab the coral mate , a lot of that area is dead coral and weed , as a spearfisherman we have the highest respect for the ocean , 100 divers would do less damage then one boat dropping an anchor , tourist areas where new divers have no control of there fins and bodies in the water is why divers have a bad rap , anyway all good everyone is open to there opinion 👍🏻

Fantastic as always. Just loved this long form 7 parter. I was enquiring about an Adventure Island the other day and I was told they only have the 2021 stock they have. That they're discontinuing. What a crying shame, seeing the adventure you get up to in yours. Love your channel. Very much looking forward to more. Subscribed finally 🙂
@markjvairy3 жыл бұрын
Appreciate it that you like the vids and for the sub…… yes I heard about hobie discontinuing the adventure island , atleast they still have the tandom island I’m looking into doing a 1000km journey maybe next year so may even upgrade to the TI Did they say why they where discontinued ? How much are the TIs ?
@stewartwhittier34552 жыл бұрын
Great vid, very inspiring! I have a 2021 TI, I’m in California and I paid around 10.5k USD but got lots of options like the wheels and galvanized trailer. I thing that added a few thousand. I also waited nearly 6 months as we were in the middle of the vid. When I took possession the dealer remarked that I could make a tidy profit if I went home and sold it! I went to Fastlane Sailing in San Diego, they were the only ones in my state that could get me one in the time span they did. They explained that they order quite a few at once knowing they’ll sell, and they do. I just got lucky! Cheers and power to the sail!

Great vid Mark. Inspired me to try for the Whitsundays next year. Off to Wathumba Creek , on Fraser later this year. How do secure your stick with Gopro when not in use?
@markjvairy Жыл бұрын
Witsunday is a great place to explore especially on a sailing kayak , the stick is secured with a bunjee cord but installed a rail blaza mount for my next trip in a few weeks

Hello sir. I am trying to make my own custom sailing kayak. If its possible, I would like to know main sailing pole length. Same length with your kayak?

Thanks again for another great video. Just curious, have you ever thought about installing a spray skirt on the front of your kayak to cut down on some of that water splashing you in the face?

I’ve considered it but yet to try them out , do you find they work well?

@@markjvairy I can't speak from personal experience yet, just what I've seen others do. I'm still about 4 months away from buying my hobie.
@rogerbarker1653 жыл бұрын
@@markjvairy I have front spray skirts on my AI and they do work. However, in those big seas you where in, they may become a hindrance if the nose digs right in. I'd hate to see the nose bury and not want to come up. 😲 Especially as your rig is loaded down with all your gear. I haven't had it happen, but am conscious it's a possibility. A quick release system would alleviate that problem though. There's a vid clip from a guy in the States who water proofed his front hatch. I think that might be a better idea than skirts in your case. I'll see if I can find it and send it on. Cheers Rog

That was a great series. Having only owned a TI for a month... would make me nervous to travel that deep into heavy waters without a 2nd boat. I enjoy seeing your solutions for making it possible. Do you have a safety feature to prevent aka folding in?
@markjvairy2 жыл бұрын
Been using lines but I am thinking or trialing a support brace as I find the lines get in the way a little , can never have enough safety measures , that’s great you’ve got a TI , I’d love to upgrade at some stage to carry more for longer trips
@SailingMothership2 жыл бұрын
@@markjvairy We got the TI for its versatility. It was hard choice... for the longer camp trips WindRiders17 look very nice... that said I do love the TI. Bottom line for me, the easier a craft is to get from home to water, the more I will use it. Keep up the journey, we love watching when we can not get on the water ourselves.
