Your dealing with garbage bags for a shelter makes me appreciate how important my simple tarp is. Thanks for posting this.

Thanks! Im glad you like the vids. Well, I can say that when ever I have been to the swamps or wetlands, I have never seen another human. When ever Im in the woods, I have run into deer and duck hunters, relic hunters, hikers but never any hostile people. If you know how to use a gun, I'd bring one. If not, you should still carry pepper spray or maybe even a stun gun. I ran into a drunk once but he was a pretty cool guy. ha ha. Take care and thanks for watching my friend.

Absolutely. Just because you bring a tent and gear its not guaranteed that youll have it later on. You may have to improvise with whatever you can get a hold of just to keep warm, dry or hydrated. Im glad you liked it. Thanks for watching my friend.

Oh, those sacks. I made them on the ole sewing machine. Dont be afraid to take up sewing, you can make tons of cool gear with it. Im glad you look up to me in the Bushcraft world, I'll try to never steer you wrong. At 12 years old you are getting a very good earl start. I didnt start doing this until I was around 19 or 20. take care and thanks for watching my friend.

In a life or death situation you can use one container for all but, I try at all times to use a bottle for collecting and boiling seperately from my drinking or storage container. That also gives you time to boil more water while cooling some drinking water. I know of a few folks that do use a dirty bottle but not many call it that. It was always called that in my camp so there was no confusion. we boiled swamp water quite often and wanted no mix ups. Thanks for watching my friend.

@enjoythewildUSA Thanks for watching my friend and just remember, if you sleep like a log, two real big trees will work fine.If you toss and turn alot, its better to weave between 4 or maybe 3 small trees. Im glad you like the vid. I had no idea what I was thinking when I was trying to start that fire. I know the right way is to put the char cloth on top for like flint n steel but for some reason I put it on top, bottom and sometimes try to throw sparks on it. I guess it depends on how Im thinking or not thinking at the moment, LOL. Thanks for watching my friend.

Yep, I love dry beans. Easy to carry, easy to cook and full of energy. I screwed up in this one and forgot to soak them. Usually I carry them dry and put them in an old gatorade bottle with some water the night before and let them soak. If they soak, they are usually ready to eat after one hour on the fire. If you cook them dry, t It takes forever to get them tender from dry. I used pintos, limas and red beans. I cant remember which I used in this one. Thanks for watching my friend.

Cool! A trip like this one is a memorable experience for sure. You;ll have a great time. I prefer stainless about 99% of the time. The only reason I used aluminum for the dirty bottle is because the aluminum would heat up so much faster. Thanks for watching my friend.

Well, you can have a dirty bottle, cup, cannister or anything. The size or shape does not matter. the idea is to never put dirty water into your drinking cup or your water storage container (Canteen) Only have one "Dirty" container to collect and boil in. that way, the only one that gets contaminated, gets purified and you dont cross contaminate other containers. Hope this makes sense. Thanks for watching my friend.

Ok what you need when doing flint and steel is to have a reasonably sharp edge on the stone. Quartz will also work. Lay the cloth on top of the stone about 1/8 in in from the edge. Then as you strike downward with the steel you will shave off tiny slivers of the steel which will ignite. Having the cloth on top is the best and quickest. Thanks alot for this series. Really enjoying them all !!

As far as Im concerned the SOG Jungle Primitive is just a large knife, it doesnt have the weight to be a machete. Its twin brother, the SOG Jungle Canopy has the weight to act like a mini machete tho. Yes, I think everyone needs either a machete or and axe. Theres a million out there but I'd suggest anything made by Ontario or Kabar. I used a Frost Scorpion in this one and it is now broken in half. It lasted around 5 years tho. Thanks for watching my friend.

Normally when I do have true flint and steel I do lay the char cloth on top. This wasnt flint, it was just some weird rock I found that threw sparks. Well that is good advice but, I didnt have much water storage capacity. so I had to boil day by day. I brought food because I was moving every day. I didnt have time ti fish. I set up a new bed/shelter every day, made a fire and cooking area everyday so there just wasnt much time for anything else. @MrBushLife Yeah, I figured that out after the video, ha ha. Charcloth is kinda new to me, learned it from fellow youtubers. I have always used flint, and steel. @Reallybigmonkey112 жыл бұрын
Well being charred means it will catch a flame but, if its charred black, it will take and hold the smallest of sparks. Even one from a flint or rock from on the trail. Try putting in in the fire in a small metal container with a nail hole in it. Let it burn till the smoke pours out. When the smoke stops, put a penny over the hole to seal the hole off while it cools. It should be black then. Give that a try. Take care and thanks for watching my friend.

Well yours must not be exactly like mine if you have a rubber ring. Ive bought several of the Genuine G.I. canteens over the years and none of them have a rubber ring to seal the cap. Mine all have a weirs taper molded into the lid that seals off as you tighten it. All one piece plastic. If you have a ring I wouldnt super glue it. That wouldnt last long nor would it even stick for long. youll just have to make sure its always there before you seal it up. Thanks for watching my friend.

What a great series. Suggestion..next time try folding and pinching your charcloth against the Flint rock, and strike your spark on it. No worries though, I did the spark shower when I got me a flint /steel too.
